I purchased this kit as I started getting more orders for detailed sculpted cakes. It's nice starter kit which I believe is why Wilton had it as part of their class kit for beginners. I like the multi tools and occasionally I forget that I have a tool that came in the kit and just spent a lot of time doing something by hand. There is a great mix of items to help you make a cake that is elegantly simple to something with the WOW factor. You can make flowers, boarders, textures like frills, lace and seams. Of course there are allways more things I could use to make cake but with this kit you can start creating now and just keep filling in with more items later. I made a breast cancer awareness cake for a client using the handled ribbon cutter and sculpting tools.

I used these products in the Wilton Course 3. They were very easy to use and I was able to learn to make a variety of beautiful flowers and bows using gum paste and fondant. The only thing I did not like was the quality of the little brush that comes with the kit (bristles came off when I used gum glue to adhere flowers to a fondant-covered cake). I believe Wilton has replaced it with something sturdier in newer kits for this course. I have found the Wilton kits to be great!

I have only used a couple products in this kit so I will only comment on those...the painting brush in this kit is a piece of crap and I certainly expected more of wilton...I couldnt even use it because the bristles were falling out constantly. However, the other products i have used (pattern wheel and a few impression items) are good quality and I am quite pleased.

This is not the most recent kit for the Wilton fondant class as of July 2014. As the majority of the items are the same, a few of the items are not the ones used in class and must be purchased separately. Had to return the item and purchase the new one at the craft store for my class.

Wilton products are just over priced, period. There is no way around it. I bought this kit and the class book for my daughter as she wanted to take the class but they were insisting on her taking 2 classes prior. So the kits includes everything you need to do the class at home. Paired with the class book, it works well.

I bought this kit with the Gum Paste Flower Cutter Set also by Wilton. I swore I wouldn't buy this expensive Wilton stuff, and look at me go! I'm buying it.

I bought this with the other set because this one came with tools and a handy instruction booklet.

Both of them combined make the perfect kit.
The packaging is shoddy - as most of Wilton's "student" kits, but you can always find something else to put all your goodies into. (seriously, if you have a big box store that's like a maze and Swedish... get a couple of those pop up boxes that you make yourself and you're golden.) Or a tackle box. ... That might do you better.

But seriously. The pictures in the book are good. A couple are fuzzy and I thought that weird because... well, it's Wilton. But the booklet is helpful. It's step by step explanations are good. I'm sure if it was used while in a class, it'd be even better.

Seriously, I said it on the Gum Paste Flower Cutter Set, I'll say it here (just in case you don't look at that one), this kit and that one are still cheaper here than at a fancy craft store.

Well worth the money.
