This is a very poorly designed pan for three reasons: 1. The height of the tube section is less than the height of the pan (including the “feet”), meaning that, when the pan is inverted for cooling, the cake pan is supported only by the feet and not also by the tube. Because of this, my cooling cake “bottom”, while still attached to the tube section, separated from the pan and sank down about a half inch, compressing the cooling cake below. 2. The rivets attaching the feet to the pan are not flush to the inside of the pan, preventing a knife from smoothly separating the cake from the pan. 3. The pan is too light and flimsy to prevent leakage and can warp with handling during cleaning, making future leakage more likely.
I have read many reviews about the pan having been received already warped and dented, resulting in leakage. This is probably due to the lack of manufacturer-provided protective packaging. Mine arrived in an Amazon box with each piece in its own plastic bag, free to bounce around inside the box and bump into each other in transit. If this is how they were shipped from Indonesia, where they were manufactured, it's surprising that they weren't dented more than they already were. Poor design, poor execution and not worth buying.
The Cook’s Illustrated website rates this pan as “Not Recommended”.

which is terrible for making angel food cake

Finally! I have had so much trouble finding a proper angel food cake pan. All of the pans in the stores are non-stick, which is terrible for making angel food cake. This pan works exactly as intended. The cake clings to the pan to rise very light and fluffy and remains in the pan while cooled upside down. ( I was able to bake an angel food cake in one of those non stick pans but the cake fell out while cooling and collapsed.) The cake released easily from the pan with an offset spatula. As far as those complaining of leakage: angel food cake batter is as thick as marshmallow cream, so it cannot leak. If your batter is leaking from the pan you have not made it properly or have a bad recipe.

This aluminum 2 piece cake pan was exactly what I was looking for. It fits on a regular beer bottle or you can use the feet to sit it upside down on. The nonstick surface didn’t allow my cake to slide out prematurely, either. The cake baked very evenly. The pan was easy to clean, too. I recommend it.
