I submitted an image because I was proud of the outcome! So here are some tricks I learned from making a test cake. The whole baking and decorating process took me nearly 8 hours to complete. I had to prepare as much as I could the night before but with the black icing it makes it hard because it wants to start bleeding in with the skin toned icing around it. You can do all the star tip and piping work in advance (about 12 hours but no more than 1 day) but save the whites of the eyes and the black pupils for last! Also, for the tongue I used fondant that I dyed then molded and put in the refrigerator. It sits on the thinned out black icing, so by putting it on last it didn't soak up the black dye.
If you are having trouble getting your icing black (like I did) make sure you are only working with 1 cup, it's really all you need. If you have added all the black dye to 1 cup and it still isn't black enough, try letting it sit overnight in the fridge, covered. My icing colors really set in after that.
I made my cake board with red foam board. I used the cake pan to outline Mickey's head onto the foil then cut it out. I attached the foil with glue dots to the board. I then used 1.5" ribbon that was cinched(may not be correct terminology) with red thread. It came out so cute!
The instructions on exactly how to create mickey mouse is on the insert as well along with everything you will need. If you don't plan to eat the cake in full (or close to it) be sure you have some type of container to store it in or atleast something to lay the cake on (cardboard with wax paper is good but don't try moving the cake with out securing the bottom from it falling out).
The cake pan calls for 1 box of cake mix and that was plenty. The cake once baked and removed from the pan (which is actually easier than I thought if you follow the directions) truly looks like you see above. The full mickey face with all the lines you see. Very easy to follow the outlines to color it in..
Pan is definitely 5 star worthy. Wilton makes it so I'm not surprised. One more thing to note you will NOT find a minnie pan however there are directions to make this into minnie mouse.
Just an FYI, I paid full retain price for this pan and chose to review a great item.
