I have to admit I was skeptical when I opened the package. I was hoping for a square pan with straight sides- these pans definitely have angled sides. However, the cake pulled away from the sides while baking and turned out beautifully. They easily flipped out of the pan and had perfect straight sides for layering. Happy with the purchase!

"non-stick" is a no-go

I have used Wilton pans for years, and love them. The "non-stick" feature is one I can (usually) count on, but not this time. I received them in time to bake a birthday cake (ironically, mine), washed & dried as I normally do, and put them to use the next day with a standard boxed cake mix. I have never had to use any type of non-stick spray or oil/flour coat on any of my Wilton non-stick pans, everything just comes right out easily and cleanly. Not with this pair!

When it came time to pop the cakes out, they didn't. I had to loosen them both around the sides, and when I tried to invert and tap the bottom of the first one, it came out - but left a big chunk of the middle of the cake in the pan (the bottom of the cake was perfectly browned, not burned). Ok, that one was the bottom layer of the cake, so I was able to easily use a spatula to get it out of the pan (it came out in 1 piece) and patch it together with frosting to put the second layer on. Having had that experience, I was much more careful with the second one, and sure enough, it tried to do the same thing, sticking in the middle.

I'm not sure what happened, but I'm really disappointed with these. I'm also going to make note for myself that the next time I use these, I will DEFINITELY be using some sort of non-stick spray or a oil/flour coating on at least the bottom to avoid future disasters!

These pans are pretty high quality. I do not bake that often, but these pans make baking cakes very easy. When the cake was done, it came right out of the panwl without sticking. The edges were also not too dark. I also use these pans to heat up things like mini soft pretzels, fries and other frozen appetizer type food. One pan fits right into my toaster oven, so it's convenient to use when I want to heat up something quickly.
