Used this to make snowflake cookies for my daughter's class. They were a bit hit.

I love it. I used it to cut out bread for sandwiches for a Disney Frozen birthday party. I am looking forward to using them for holiday cookies as well.

When I went to make cookies the first time I used this, I decided that "just because", I'd try the cookie recipe on the back of the cardboard this came on. And the cookies are SO great! They're the best we've had, so be sure to check it out :) And, the actual cutter itself works just fine.

I love the Wilton Comfort Grip cookie cutters. They are easy to hold and comfortable to use, even for young children. They are built to be very sturdy, and the metal doesn't bend because of the comfort grip handle. They're stainless steel, so they won't rust. And, they have nice deep sides (1 3/4") making them very versatile. I like the fact that they make large cookies (about 5" across) meaning fewer cookies to frost. The cutters are also very easy to clean. And, at $3 a piece, I can afford to add a few to my collection each year.

I do not find the snowflake shape quite as easy to use as some of the others. Because of all of the small details and protruding parts, I have a little difficulty at times removing the cookie dough from the cutter, though granted I don't have the best fine motor skills. Also, the resemblence to a snowflake (as opposed to a leaf or something) is already somewhat tenuous, and with baking, the cookie expands and loses definition. Other than the fact that they had white frosting and it was winter, I'm not really sure that they were easily identifiable as snowflakes. My kids loved it though!

Still, if you like the shape, this is a high-quality cookie cutter that will last for years.

Bought the snowflake cookie cutter to make cinnamon Christmas ornaments and liked it so much I even made sugar cookies. This is my second grippy cookie cutter. I have the gingerbread man as well. I will keep adding to my collection and would highly recommend these.

Did i mention that I loved this beautiful cookie cutter. They are well made, have a clean sharp metal edge which makes it easy to cut dough. After use I wash it in warm soapy water and coat the metal with a light coating of olive oil to prevent rusting.

I've enjoyed all the Wilton comfort grip cookie cutters. They are sturdy and easy to use. Some reviewers have said the outer edges can crack. I made dozens of these cookies with zero problems. Every single one transferred to the cookie sheet without tearing and none broke after baking. I'd suggest rolling the dough a little thicker if you're having that problem.

I bought heavy duty rubber bands at bed bath and beyond that are designed to go over the ends of your rolling pin to ensure uniform dough thickness. They come in a package with four different depths to choose from.

The snowflake design is a little trickier to frost. I didn't mind since I wasn't trying to create a Martha moment. I just slapped the frosting on, sprinkled some decors on and my family loved them.

If you had the time and talent you could make some gorgeous cookies with this cutter. It's big, so you have fewer cookies to bake and decorate.

As Disney's 'Frozen' is the hot movie of the year, so are 'Frozen' themed birthday parties. We decided to let the kids frost and decorate snowflake cookies. We used a basic sugar cookie recipe that I'll post at the end of the review that was thick, ever so slightly crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside. My 3 year old and 5 year old loved pressing the cookie cutter into the dough and they made nearly perfect snowflake cookies each time. I kept a small bowl of flour on the side and dipped the cutter into the flour before each press and that helped release the dough easier. Try to keep your dough thickness consistent to make the perfect snowflake cookie. Even if it's not consistent, it still works very well. Cleanup was a breeze and I look forward to making more in the future.

This is the recipe I used...just remember that you need to give yourself time to chill the dough:

1½ cups butter, softened
2 cups white sugar
4 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
5 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt

Directions

1) In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla.

2) In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add to butter mixture.

3) Cover, and chill dough for at least one hour (or overnight).

4) Preheat oven to 400 degrees F

5) Roll out dough on floured surface 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Cut into shapes with any cookie cutter. Place cookies 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheets.

6) Bake 6 to 8 minutes in preheated oven. Cool completely.
