ONE WAY MIRROR EFFECT WITH EXTRA-DARK SILVER TINT
Prevent nosy, unwanted onlookers from peeping through your window during the day with Buydecorativefilm’s One Way Mirror Silver 5 window film. As the name suggests, this film gives the window a mirror-like, highly reflective look on either the outside or the inside of the window depending on the lighting conditions. This is why the One Way Mirror Effect works great during the day; since the sun makes the outside of your building much brighter than the inside, bystanders on the mirrored side will see nothing but their own reflection while you can still see through. Whether it’s for your home or office, shield your interior and protect your private life while maintaining clear visibility.
Here are some additional comments about our One Way Mirror window film:
- BE AWARE, as the name suggests, the intended privacy mirror-effect works during DAYTIME only!
- The side exposed to the most light will produce the reflective appearance.
- Therefore, the mirror-effect will become reversed at night since the interior will usually be exposed to more light than the exterior.
- Window film is to be applied on the inside of your window unless specified otherwise.
- Perfect for living arrangements where you want to maintain privacy during the day without completely blocking off the sunlight but have curtains or blinds to use at night for continued privacy.
DAYTIME PRIVACY ONLY/ REVERSED AT NIGHT!!
As mentioned above, the side with the most amount of light will become the “mirror”! Therefore, the effect of any reflective, privacy enhancing window film will greatly depend on the lighting conditions. This is why the privacy-effect works so well during the day, and almost not at all at night since the sun usually makes the exterior of your building much, much brighter than the interior. At night, you will most likely have your room well-lit so the outside will be much darker, making it easy for people to see in and hard for you to see out. However, coupled with the use of curtains or blinds for night-time privacy, the reflective property of this window film is perfect for windows that face directly into the sun and are exposed to extreme sunlight!
KEEP IT COOL, REDUCE ENERGY COSTS, and PROTECT YOUR INTERIOR
Not only does the One Way Mirror Silver 5 window film provide great daytime privacy, but its extra dark nature also gives it excellent heat rejecting properties that keeps the interior of your home or office building nice and cool. The number “5” in its name refers to the extra dark silver tint that gives the window that reflective, mirrored look and also blocks hot solar rays from entering through your window. It rejects about 99% of the UV rays, helping to reduce fading on your precious furniture or other UV sensitive belongings, and about 80% of the total solar energy coming in from the sun. By maintaining your room at a cool, moderate temperature, you can promote a more environmentally aware lifestyle by reducing energy usage and help create a greener world.
For first-timers, it might initially seem confusing to make the window film stick to the window, but it’s actually really simple! Use two pieces of tape to grab onto one of the corners on each side of the film. Once you start pulling apart the tape, the backing liner should start to peel off from the window film itself. Remember to closely follow the installation manual and use lots of soapy water to prevent the film from sticking everywhere.
INSTALLATION GUIDE INCLUDED!
Our products come with the tools needed to get your job done and an installation guide is included to help you with a smooth installation process. With the right amount of care, practice, and patience, both installation and removal of the film should be simple and easy.
MANY SIZES to SUIT YOUR NEEDS
Whether your windows are small, big, wide, or narrow, our products come in a variety of sizes to suit your individual needs. It is usually recommended and sometimes necessary that you have more than enough film to cover the window so that you have a bigger margin for error and can trim/cut off the excess pieces as you install.

Window clings and films are never easy to put up and it does require two people to get it to look nice. It will never be perfect because there are always little bubbles here and there despite our best efforts to get rid of them, but it does look pretty uniform for the most part with careful application. Putting this up is not a quick 10 minute process. Set aside some time and grab yourself an extra pair of hands. Read the instructions and use J & J baby shampoo with water in a squirt bottle to spray your windows and apply. My package contained a nice little squeegee and blade for cutting. Both were very helpful and I am glad they were included.
After doing over 100 windows (not kidding... I am an expert now) I can tell you that it is amazing how this stuff blocks the heat and light. Even on winter on days when it is in the 40-50's, you still get a lot of heat and light when you are in the window facing the sun. As soon as I put this up and hit it with the squeegee, you could feel the difference. So now we have a neat looking property and happy tenants because they will have cooler apartments and nobody can see in during the day time. Wait until Summer they will really be happy!!
Here is a few pointers and tricks and hopefully helpful hints:
Make this a two person project. It makes it 10X easier. Mainly for peeling the plastic backing off. Start in one corner, and have a helper take the clear plastic side, then have them even out, grab the other side and pull straight down. Once it is off, then THEY use the soapy water spray to wet the backing side, and they can spray the window too. Then YOU can just lay it on the window evenly at the top and it will fall into place. Squeegee side to side all the way down with a big squeegee (like 6-8" softer rubber) THEN use the hard plastic one they provide in every box. Wrap a micro fiber towel over the hard included squeegee.
Use blue tape to separate the pieces of film. I can't imagine try to do it with fingers. With blue tape, you put a piece on each side of a single corner, and then use the tape to pull apart the two sides. With blue tape they have enough sticky strength to pull them apart, but then they easily come apart.
If you are doing more than one window, spend $10 and buy a 48" metal ruler at Lowes or Home Depot. You don't want to use a short one and try moving and cutting and moving and cutting to get a long single cut. Some of our cuts were 58" long, and that is hard enough moving it once.
Try to measure the windows and precut the film to size. We left a 1/4" gap all the way around, which you can NOT see from the outside when looking at the building. We had 40 year old windows with a lot of paint and silicone and stuff stuck on them so it was hard to clean them well enough to get it right up to the edge and trim it in place. We got it down to where it was taking about 4 minutes per glass panel to put on the film. Cleaning took way more time that. For your own place, shoot for 1/8 all the way around for the gap.
So to recap: Bring a friend, try to precut, get a good squeegee, use blue tape and be patient.
