Mary Ellen Chase has created an atmosphere as unforgettable as the people who lived and died within its bounds. She writes of the coast of Maine and its people as no one but a native could write. --Louisville Courier-Journal

I did find an article written by Mr. Knight:
The Maine Chapter of The American Institute of Architects
The article was written in 2011 and shows pictures of the cottage that Mary Ellen Chase purchased in 1940 and named Windswept. From this home she was inspired to write her book. The new owners decided to renovate, keeping the original design intact. It is wonderful to see a picture of the house. It resembles the house described in the book, although Miss Chase tells us that the setting of her book is entirely created, not copied. The house on the cover of her book is strangely not according to the book's description.
