Read about Marissa's book in an online article (name of which escapes me), then came across her again on Instagram and holy sh*t guys this woman is amazing.
Let's get nit-picky stuff out of the way. Not for me, personally, but I guess maybe you won't learn anything here if you're *serious* about wine in an educated way (like, master-level Somme way). Which is fine! And the author even addresses this in one of the opening chapters. Nevertheless, it's still a really run, and who knows, maybe there's something in there you didn't know.
Alright, with that out of the way, let's get into it. This book has Marissa's footprint all over it -- you literally feel like you're hanging out with someone as you read this, and someone you actually enjoy being around. The book is a pleasant, light-hearted read on terminology, wine regions, grape varietals, but also stuff on pairings, anecdotes on what wines to drink during what situations, and a layman's compendium of tasting notes, how to shop for wine (how many of us are the world's worst guessers), and how best to host wine parties.
If you enjoy drinking wine, but especially drinking wine with FRIENDS, hit up this new companion guide to a whole new, approachable, way of imbibing.
Get this for the 'real'.

Additionally, Marissa is socially conscious to many causes, hilarious, and SO cool without trying to be. Follow her on IG as well for a dose of cool.
Signed, a mom living in the burbs who stays hip solely thanks to MAR.
