I don't know why more people don't buy this table! It is very cute. I have friends with other tables, including the Leap Frog, and Fisher Price, and I think there is more to do on this table. I got this for my son when he was around 8 months old. At that point, he mainly used it to practice standing up. He loves banging on it, so many different pieces make noise.
I like that it is gender neutral. It has everything from butterflies to trains. The little train always comes off (it is supposed to), but it has never gotten lost. I hope it doesn't, because he isn't really old enough to understand what it does yet. That is something else I love about this table, I can see how he will be able to use it as he gets older.
The only downside to this table, is that the legs aren't as sturdy as some other tables I've seen. This was only a little bit of a problem when he was trying to pull himself up to in the very beginning. It has never fallen, but I was a little worried it might. Now that he is more skilled (and probably taller) he is able to pull up to it without any problem at all.
I really like this table, I would recommend it to anyone with a little one. For the price (I paid $30), it is well worth it!
As other reviewers have mentioned, the train doesn't stay on the table, but I actually prefer that way, so it doesn't restrict my daughter's play. The Alphabet Song is sung by a recorded kid's voice (not electronic animated), and I'm glad to finally find a toy that sings "Z" as "Zee" and not "Zat".
We love the many features it has:
- Push train engine on alphabet track and sing-along with the Alphabet Song
- Free wheeling train engine
- 5 note (Do-Re-Mi-Fa-So, not just random notes, like another toy we own) piano keyboard with flashing lights
- Simple learning concepts - animal/color/shape identification
- Train whistle, gearshift, spinner, butterfly mirror with wing that opens and closes, bumblebee glider, flower buttons that activate familiar nursery rhyme tunes, sound effects and music
- Detachable legs change from stand-up activity table to floor play (easy to assemble)
I also like the fact that the pictures are not stickers or stick-ons that will eventually peel with use and wipe-down. It has 2 volume settings together with the on/off switch.
My daughter, who's in the top 10 percentile in height and slim (she was 82cm and 9.Read more ›
It can be used with the legs attached, or with them off. It is not sturdy enough for a crawler to try to pull themselves up with, but it is sturdy enough that my 30 lb 2 year old has sat on it a few times with no problems.
The battery life seems to last quite a while too, I used it with duracell max batteries, and have probably only changed them 5 times in the last 3 years.
