The idea of affirming your day is discussed throughout the book before you are told how to do it finally at the end of book. It sounds very much like Zig Ziglar's idea of describing your ideal self to yourself in the mirror every morning (and night if I recall). I think I prefer the idea of his affirmations, but I have not done either yet, so I can't comment on it's effectiveness.
In general, I think the books provides a new way to look at your attitude in different situations and some techniques that appear to be sound and would be at least somewhat effective if put into practice. It is worth a read or two.
