About the Author

My name is Adam Carroll and I would describe myself as a serial entrepreneur, a lifelong learner, a teacher, and a challenger of the status quo. I have been a professional speaker and seminar leader for the past 10 years - my target audiences generally being students and young professionals. My company National Financial Educators does financial literacy education and consulting with educational and financial institutions, as well as companies looking to expand their employee's financial literacy.

I believe strongly in the following philosophy:

1. It's better to build a bigger LIFE, not a bigger lifestyle.
2. If you do for two years what most people won't do, you'll do for the rest of your life what most people can't do.
3. We have four legacies to leave future generations: Money Freedom, Time Freedom, Relationship Freedom, Service Freedom.

My work has led me down the path of being a transformational coach and trainer working with the likes of Jack Canfield, author of The Success Principles. Helping others develop personally and professionally fuels my tank and I'm blessed to do what I do for a living.

I knew I was going to like this book when the author said one of his most important memories of money is when his fiancee said she would not marry his debt, because so many people enter financial agreements without considering the consequences. "Winning the Money Game" is a solid book on how to stop avoiding money and start having financial conversations so you can win the game.

I'm often skeptical about self-help books on how to save money. How can a book change my spending habits? Well, this book has changed the way I view purchase decisions and what money means to me, and has made me more conscious of the consequences (or advantages) this makes. I'll definitely think about Ch. 4 before the next time I make a spontaneous purchase! Highly recommended for everyone and anyone who spends money :)

I can't say enough great things about this book! As a young professional, this book breaks down very simple, yet essential concepts that everyone must know in order to win the money game. It's entertaining and a very-quick read. Very few college students and young professionals know how to manage their money and tend to do all of the wrong things. Thankfully this book outlines some very simple principles that anyone can follow to make sure that they control their money. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to win the money game!

Written for young people in college, the rules about winning the money game apply equally to those out of college and more experienced. Knowing the rules is one thing; creating an action plan and implementing it will help you win and live a comfortable life. Begin applying these rules in high school or even junior high and you can be rich before you know it.

As an economist teaching primarily young adults and, as an older person with hindsight, I see now the lessons I could have learned better and the ones I hope to impart to my students. Money and its management are essential to financial independence. It is not rocket science but it is important to start early – and that is what this book is about – financial independence for a younger generation who may have an even riskier future. The lessons in this book all link back to wise decision-making and the power of exponential growth. This book covers topics that are essential to learn. I especially like the distinction between needs and wants, as well as the emphasis on monitoring your progress over time. Choices have consequences and that is a lesson Adam Caroll and Chad Carden dare to impart. Saving and investing do not automatically occur; we must each develop a plan, making conscious decisions about them in order to cause them occur as though they were automatic in our lives. This is the message – and it is a good one!
