This was my favorite board game when I was growing up. I liked it so much because it was the first stimulus in my early life that made me ask myself the question, what do I want out of life? When choosing between Money, Fame, and Happiness, what is more important to me? What ratio of Money, Fame, and Happiness do I think I need to achieve to be happy in life? When you start the game, every player chooses a target value of Money, Fame, and Happiness. The first player to achieve his target values of Money, Fame, and Happiness wins the game. As you progress around the board, you land on entry points to career paths. Every path results in different levels of advancements in Money, Fame, and Happiness. This game is very important on many levels. I liked it because it makes you think about more things than most other board games. This game also creates an amazing opportunity to have a discussion with their children about what THEY think is important in life. On board game collection is complete without a copy of Careers! I inherited a 1965 copy of the game and I will pass it onto my children.

I LOVED this game as a kid and it was fun to rediscover it! My 15 year old step-daughter enjoyed an "old-fashioned" game as well. It was good to get her away from the computer and video games! I miss the lift and erase score board and they would would be more "eco-friendly" than the paper.

I think this game is great. My boyfriend introduced me to it and said it had been a favorite in his family. Now it is a favorite in mine as well. Each player must select a personal "formula" for success -- measured in money, fame and happiness. It can be a different formula every time so there is a planning strategy for the game and it is different every time. Players then try out different careers to meet the formula they have created. Some careers offer more opportunity for happiness; others more fame or money. I have played the game with children 10 and older but because of the strategy involved, the game appeals to adults too.

I opted for the older version of the game so some of the careers and actions on the board are a bit old fashioned. There is an updated version that has been modified for users who would prefer a more modern version.

Careers is similar to the classic game, "Life," but it allows for some level of strategy, like choosing your career and your goals. Rather than just aiming for the most money, you get to choose how much Fame, Wealth, and Happiness you would like to aim for and each player's goals are kept secret until the end. Like "Clue," you don't know who is going to win or when, which adds a level of suspense. It's a good game and it's been around for a while now, so it's not too hard to find.

It's been about 30 years since I played this last. We've been caring for the grandkids a couple days a week this summer, so bought some games that they can actually learn from. The 12-year old loves it already, the 7-year old is a little too young to plan his strategy. We'll have this game for family get togethers for a long time to come.

This is one of the best board games ever. We got one at a tag sale when I was pretty young and my brother and I played this game a million times. I hadn't even thought about it in like 20 years and then bought it. We play it at least once a week and it never gets dull. If you like board games and never tried this, I recomend it highly!

My parents used to have the original Careers and my sister and I always played it. However you couldn't buy it until recently. It is a little different with wording on the board but I still love it. There is some math and reading involved.

Still a great board game teaching kids about different life paths and how to make life choices. Also, have a post-game discussion as to why particular options were chosen and whether they worked out as expected.
