The World-Famous 3-Minute Word Game
Big Boggle debuted in 1979 as 'Parker Brothers Bigger Hidden Word Game.' Word game players have been happily devoted to the game for over 30 years. We are proud to bring you the classic Big Boggle game you remember. We’ve also included a special bonus Double Letter cube that you can use for an optional version of game play Begin the play by starting the timer, each player searches the assortment of letters for words of four letters or more. When you find a word, write it down. Words are formed from adjoining letters. (You may not skip over letters.) Letters must join in the proper sequence to spell a word. They may join horizontally, vertically or diagonally to the left, right or up-and-down. No letter cube may be used more than once within a single word. The object of the game is to list, within 3 minutes, as many words of the highest point value as you can find among the random assortment of letters in the cube grid. We include 25 standard letter cubes, 1 Double Letter cube, cube grid with dome, 3-minute sand timer and instructions.

Team PlayEach player on a team writes down his or her own words. If teammates find the same word–a word that is not found by the opposition–only one team member crosses it off. The winning team is the one with the most points. If the players aren’t of equal ability or experience, try matching a team of average players against an advanced/beginner team. Or pit a team of younger or less experienced players against one player who is older or more experienced. |
What's NewThe versatile Double Letter cube adds a new level of challenge to Big Boggle play. To play with the Double Letter cube, remove any standard letter cube of your choice from the 25 cubes in the grid and place it out of play. Put the Double Letter cube in the grid and play according to the standard rules. When scoring, remember that the two letters on the Double Letter cube (QU, TH, etc.) count as two letters. |

It had a royal blue grid, dome and timer. The biggest problem was the cubes were inn terrible shape. They were chipped,
and had paint dripped on them. One was even smeared. I have never seen a game is such poor condition
right from the manufacturer. I was very disappointed in the quality of the game I received.

Did not come with a timer, as the original version did. No big deal. We just use a watch or phone.
Now, the only problem, but a big one. The title printing is TERRIBLE! The letters are off-center, the font is bad, and it is just so poorly done I was shocked. Forget about playing this with anyone with OCD. The blocks aren't even consistent about which letters are off-center, etc. I was just disappointed that with everything else being so good, they would ignore the most important aspect of the game. I would've bought many of these for friends and family, and recommended it to other families who are looking for non-electronics games to play together. But I just can't do all of that knowing there is this one major problem.
The best improvement over the current versions of the original game, though, is the plastic dome and tray. Perhaps because it comes with an actual cardboard box for storage, it is easy to remove the dome from the tray after shaking the letters.
The current version of the original game uses the dome and tray as a storage container as well as for game play. We found it difficult to remove the dome without disturbing the letters in the tray. We even did our best to file off the flanges that hold the dome and tray together, but were still having difficulty removing the dome without jumbling the letters.
