Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Perlstein has an impressive knowledge of tennis, having combined his experiences as a player, coach, and student of the game in two previous books: Essential Tennis and Winning Doubles. Here, Perlstein analyzes the professionals on the tour, as well as coaches and instructors, developing formulas that he believes will ensure success. The author examines practice routines, shot mechanics, physical conditioning, and match readiness in a step-by-step approach designed to aid competitive players. Although not written with the beginner in mind, this book does emphasize a fundamental that is critical in any sport: mental toughness. Regardless of the level, each athlete must be prepared for the psychological pressures. After reading Perlstein's book, the tennis player will have a clear appreciation of what it takes to win. Format: Paperback
It has a lot of good tips. It only contains a chapter about stroke techniques. I found them very insightful and useful. It only has a few photos, thought VERY informative.
The problem is the book is too thin for the price. I loved it because I got it from local library.
