Grab this fast moving ethical and psychological courtroom thriller that has military lawyer trained, but combat tested and decorated, Barney Adams chosen to defend a ruthless killing of a British soldier by an American officer during World War II and in a place where
tensions between the two allies were at the murderous stage.

The outcome is already a foregone conclusion and a necessary one as well - the killer must hang - but Adams has his own self respect and something deeper than even that - should he just go through the motions as everyone seems to want him to? Or should be build some sort of defense for such a savage murder witnessed by many others?

Adams has one week to work - and the tension and suspense mounts through the final pages.

It's classy and informative. A WW2 military courtroom drama of a decorated US Army Captain assigned to defend an admitted killer of a British enlisted man. He and his team reluctantly do their best to defend the man, knowing his guilt has been pre-determined. It depicts an era when psychology was not as well developed and recognized as it is today. It's one man against high odds and the Military establishment. Nicely done - bravo.

The main character in this novel is an honorable military officer who chooses to take the right action morally and legally while putting his own career in peril. The book is fast paced with the chapters broken down into hours and days as the action builds up to the final climax in what seems like real time.

I feel like I have just watched a powerful movie. He kept my attention.I started the book as a casual detective stort. Instead it took me to a very intelligent
Piece of writing I will have to think about this book before I pick up another one.

A well written novel. The author appeared to be very knowledgeable about the legalities of military court martials. A few chapters seemed to drag but overall I enjoyed reading it, especially the section dealing with the actual trial.
