In the world that Dana Bell has created for this book not only could you do this, but your animal friend might just be the one leading the conversation.
I'm not a cat fancier or an animal lover but this book really grabbed my imagination; I had a hard time putting it down while I was reading.
For those of you who are cat fanciers and animal lovers Dana does a good job of portraying our common house-pets, and the not so common wilder cousins, as we know them. They behave just as we expect them to act, and she gets into their minds to give voice to the thoughts "we just know" are behind their actions. But they are in a very uncommon situation.
In the midst of a world where survival is not the norm the main characters struggle to nurture their own emerging intelligence and build an inter-species society to face the deadly challenges around them.
Be advised that the book ends with a cliffhanger. I for one can't wait for Dana's next installment in the series.
Feedback I'm getting from my younger readers is that if you enjoyed 'The Warrior' series by Erin Hunter, they'll also like my book.
