Editorial Reviews

From the Author

The contrast between my newfound life off-the-grid in coastal British Columbia and my seldom-mentioned (to Canadian friends) existence as city-folk in Los Angeles is where I draw my writing ammunition. Talk about an outsider looking in! Beginning with my first book, 'Up the Lake,' I found the sublime remoteness of living in a float cabin on Powell Lake a subject I was able to compare and contrast. Sometimes those intimately close to a style of living, as exemplified by British Columbia locals, take the beauty of their region for granted. As an outsider, I was seeing the change of seasons up close and personal, and it simply blew me away. A life with actual seasons was new and beautiful to me, and winter in the Powell River region was a glory to explore. In this book, I hike, snowshoe, and ride a quad into the nearby mountains, exploring winter's positive side... and, of course, occasionally the negatives of a season I've not previously experienced to this extreme. Join me in exploring the sublime beauty of winter in coastal British Columbia.
