About the author

Sandy Loyd is a Western girl through and through. Born and raised in Salt Lake City, she's worked and lived in some fabulous places in the US, including South Florida. She now resides in Kentucky and writes full time. As much as she loves her current hometown, she misses the mountains and has to go back to her roots to get her mountain fix at least once a year.
She spent her single years in San Francisco and considers that city one of America's treasures, comparable to no other city in the world. Her California Series, starting out with Winter Interlude, are all set in the Bay Area. Her series consists of fun, heartwarming stories about crazy friends who, like single people everywhere, are seeking that someone special to share their lives with among thousands of eligible candidates.
Sandy recently published her first Romantic Suspense novel, The Sin Factor, set in another wonderful US city, Washington, DC. She has since published two more, both set in fictional towns in Kentucky to give a reader a feel for small town living. Running Out Of Fear's setting showcases the state's caves and lakes. All have heart-stopping suspense and are full of the twists and turns she loves. Sandy also doesn't skimp on the romance.

First you have......
Kate Winters who owns her own antique store. She has been dating James Morrison an architect, for eight years and feels it's time they at least get engaged. She wants marriage and children very badly, but James has been putting her off and all but avoiding her now for the last six months. She's grown tired of his games and plans a weekend skiing in hopes to give him a final ultimatium. Either they take move to the next level, or their relationship is done and over with. Period! The last thing James is willing to give is any kind of binding commitment, actually he's been thinking about calling it quits for a long time now, he just hasn't had the guts to do it, yet.
Then there is James' younger brother Paul a financial planner, who has been dating Kate's best friend Julie a Interior Designer for about the same amount of time. When Paul mentions marriage, she backs off and tells him she's not ready and that maybe it would be best if they just stay friends. They are also part of the foursome set up to go on the ski trip.
The day before the trip, James calls Kate and tells her he won't be able to make the trip until the next day, due to problems at work. Julie tells Kate that she can ride up on Fri with her and Paul. Only problem is...Paul and Kate have never been able to get along. Julie makes them both promise to keep their smart remarks and the bickering behind, at least until the three hour ride is over. They are hesitant, but finally they do agree.
When Kate and Paul are on their way to pick up Julie, she texts Paul to say she can't make the trip after all, due to problems at work. Paul and Kate are completely bummed out, but decide to go anyway since the SUV is already packed to go.
The sparks start to fly when the two get stuck together for a three-hour drive to the mountains and years of misconceptions about each other are slowly being wiped out. They get along really great the fist night there, and for the next morning on the slopes together. But things start to heat up between the two, when they lose power at the house late that after noon. And it gets even more intense when they have to share a room to keep warm.
There is one good thing they learned while on the ski trip, and that's that both of them realize just how unhappy they've been in their current relationship. They both know that they'll have to put an end to them, before they can move on. They have both fallin' for one another, but they aren't about to act on those feelings, until they get back to town and end things with their partners first.
It's just too bad it doesn't end up going that way. When they get back they both DO end their relationships, but there's a few other things that get in the way of their happiness.
Would I recommend this book? Yes!
When the day came for them to leave for the ski lodge, James had left Kate know he was tied up on his project and would meet them at the lodge the next day. When Paul stopped to pick up Kate on the way to pick up Judith, he received a call from Judith, and she too was having a problem at her designer job she was working on. But, Judith didn't see being able to get away at all for the weekend. So there was Paul and Kate wondering if they should delay going until James could leave. With looking forward to fresh powder on the slope, Kate decided they could go ahead to the lodge and stock up on supplies for meals and be able to hit the slopes with a first run on fresh snow that they seldom got to ski on. That is, if they both felt they could get through 3 hours in confined quarters of the car, and survive.
So, starts the journey of Kate and Paul. Do they make it to the lodge without tempers flaring and in emotional one piece? What do they fond out about one another? Does James commit to Kate? Does Paul and Judith stay friends?
Curl up for a fun interesting read and find out how these couples sort out the questions of commitment and love.
This is a enjoyable, fast read and a beginning of a good love series.

Parts of it were so terrible I laughed e.g "she bit her hot dog, chewed and swallowed"
After pages of boring repetition it then just suddenly ended. Sorry, but just utter drivel.....

silly angst from supposed adults. Didn't like. Whilst story simple, there were loads of descriptions. Down to minutiae. Overdone.
