The start - and the reason to the current situation - is the same in both stories. Sam returns home after a number of years as a military sniper, discharged because medical issues. He has been beaten by his fellow soldiers because of his sexual orientation and as a result he has lost part of his sight. Sam is a virgin in almost all ways, because he has got exposed already during his first tentative attempt on action.
At home is Cooper - his best friend and secret love interest - who now is working for Sam's father. Although Sam and Coop has stuck together in thick and thin for years, they had never confessed their mutual attraction to each other. But now they are ready to take the next step.
But even at home Sam is not safe. There are hostile people threatening not only Sam, but also the livelihood to Sam's family. Through this dangerous situation Sam learns his father's dark secret and thus achieves a better relation with him. Not to mention that he finds what his future should be - besides been with Coop.
The relationship between Coop and Sam has been over 10 years in the making going from adolescent friends to lovers as adults. Their relationship isn't without complications, especially from Sam's dad but the character development is so amazing that you feel the love just pouring off the pages. When Sam's dad discloses a secret, it changes the foundation of their relationship and forges a path for Coop and Sam to get their HEA.
Great writing by Donya Lynne and I'm looking forward to reading more of her books. I highly recommend this story!!
