I haven't played Wipeout since Wipeout 3 for the playstation. I missed the PS3 boat of Wipeout games because I didn't even get to own a PS3. This is an update of those titles and the Vita version. I was just going through the campaign of Wipeout Fury and Wipeout HD yesterday and was impressed at the textures, the frame rate, and the Designers republic look that used to keep me up at night. Did I mention the Wipeout collection soundtrack is really good? Just the deep house, drum and bass, and techno pumping into your system as you're doing airbrakes and using the left analog stick to maneuver your craft. I did also do some online racing and the races are fun just like before. This is a high speed nerve racking racing title that will require the best of your nervous system.
If you've never played Wipeout it's a combination of Mario kart style racing that feels like F Zero with visuals of Neo Tokyo. The soundtrack is always adrenaline packed so as you're practicing your laps you get in the groove of 120+BPM in your maneuvering. I'm off to do some more races and now I need to pick up some red bull or G fuel to keep up with the competition.

PSVR owners, this is a MUST BUY!
I bought this only after hearing it is a full-blown VR game now and I'm glad I did! The last time I played Wipeout was in 1995 after getting my original PS One. I liked it for what it was back then, but never revisited the franchise again until now. I haven't yet played it in standard mode, because in VR mode, it is simply amazing.[Graphics] are very good considering so much of VR content is usually watered down due to the high system resources to render VR. The pixels are pretty crisp and there's no noticeable aliasing. I played this on a PS4 Pro and while I usually get motion sickness from just about any game with fast movement, I played Wipeout for hours and only stopped because I was short on time. There are also different comfort settings for VR so that you can elect to set the camera distance from Cockpit, to close, to far.. then lock the camera to the track, the cockpit, or the driver. Experiment with these settings on your first race to quickly figure out what you can and can't handle and so you know what will work best to make sure the game gives you maximum comfort and enjoyment.[Content] is plentiful. This is 3 Wipeout releases seamlessly bundled into one. You can play each one individually from the same menu. So many different game modes and settings to allow this game to have a very high replay value.[Audio] is matched well to the gameplay. The dubstep and electronic mixes add to the energy, along with the sound effects and voices that perfectly compliment the intense action.[Gameplay] is addictive. I found myself constantly saying "one more round" over and over. Pick from any game mode such as; Tournament, Speed Lap, Time Trial and Single Race, Zone Battle, Eliminator and Detonator or Career Mode. Some of the game modes make the game feel like San Francisco Rush 2049, Mario Kart, Burnout, Hydro Thunder, and Ridge Racer were put into a blender. Defying gravity with high-speed loop-de-loops and sharp turns gets your adrenaline going. Flying over boost pads to get a quick speed rush or flying over a power up pad to get a weapon and taking out your opponent that is just ahead of you really adds to the fun. I tried to play a multiplayer game but the server search came back with 0 results. I'm not sure if that aspect isn't yet available for VR, or if the servers were empty at the time.[Controls] are simple and easy to learn, and work well. The options give you the freedom to assign any button to all control features to create your own custom control configuration.[Final Thoughts] VR is starting to make great strides. The fact that Sony pushed out a VR update to this game at 0 extra cost makes this a must-buy for PSVR owners. I'm sure it would be a must-have for any big fan of the Wipeout franchise as well.
