John Erardi and Joel Luckhaupt have managed to recreate the magic of a once in a lifetime baseball season and transfer it to the printed page. 1990, to Cincinnati Reds fans, remains a mythical, magical season that earned a special place in our hearts and stays there to this day. In accomplishing something that even the fabled Big Red Machine teams weren't able to do this team earned its place in Cincinnati legend and lore.
From the introduction, written by Hall-of-Fame announcer Marty Brennaman, to the Reunion chapter and the Where Are They Now page this book takes readers through that season bringing out points long forgotten, or never known at all, as well as being filled with great photos and easily digested statistics. It will give insight as to how this team was constructed as well as what they went through to overcome the previous years problems. Using great statistical analysis to break down virtually every component of this team you will see how they won. Written in a style that encourages you to go Cover-to-Cover it will bring back all the great personalities, all of the great games and plays, and all of the stories within the story of that team.
This is the best Posnanski book ever written by a guy not named Joe Posnanski and I am sure you will enjoy it as much as I did. You will not be disappointed.
