Editorial Reviews

Review

This is an inspirational read -- whether you've worked for cooperatives for decades or you are just reading about them for the first time. Wired Differently is proof that a corporate mission, vision and values really do make a difference when practiced on a daily basis. Wired Differently tells how NISC has become an enduring success when measured against financial metrics and what really matters: service, ethics, professionalism and commitment to members and to each other. The world would be an even better place if more corporations were wired differently. --Dennis Hill, Executive Vice President and General Manager, North Dakota Association of Rural Electric Cooperatives

What a great book! Vern Dosch convincingly makes the case (along with the supporting data) for the power of servant leadership, company values and building a collaborative culture. For me, the credibility of the book also comes from personally knowing the author who is the real thing: one of the very best servant leaders I know! --James C. Hunter, Author of The Servant: A Simple Story About the True Essence of Leadership and The World's Most Powerful Leadership Principle: How to Become a Servant Leader

Wired Differently is the perfect and refreshing antithesis to Wall Street greed. The book is filled with remarkable stories of servant leadership, service to a calling higher than self and a desire to give back to one's community. Good solid values of giving and caring dance through the pages with a marvelous felicity. But so too does success -- good solid success in software development, deployment and re-development. Wired Differently will make a valuable contribution to the history of NISC, as well as to a new way (for much of the business world) of looking at the bottom line and leadership. --Larry Skogen, PhD, Interim Chancellor, North Dakota University System --This text refers to the hardcover edition.
