This controller is just okay. It works & functions along with a cheap price tag. The L1/2 & R2/2 seem to be analog buttons, which can be noticeable in some games. Takes a little more effort to press than triggers. The joysticks are a bit slippery on thumbs, but easily adjustable over time. Its very light & feels like a tiny toy in your hands which is favorable for young kids.
Also, you can’t turn on the PS4 itself even when plugged in the USB port without manually turning on the console & then holding share/PS buttons together for 4 seconds as if its a bluetooth device. Thats slightly inconvenient especially for a child. It really should just instantly turn on like other wired controllers.
My biggest gripe & complete turnoff with this is the touchpad, & for whatever reason, hardly anyone mentions this in any review of this controller which baffles me so much since I probably wouldn't have bought it if I knew about it. In order to even use it, you must hold a button on the bottom middle “TP” for 4 seconds, then use the L joystick & press it in the appropriate direction youd want to swipe or use the touchpad along with pressing down on the small ant sized pad at the same time.
Even for kids, that genuinely seems complicated. I had to Google it for myself as a mid 20s adult. The functionality is actually terrible. Because of that, Im only using this controller strictly for old school games with minimal to no touchpad support. Really odd decision on the companies part on that.
In terms of using it on PC, its recognized as a 3rd party joypad which makes inconvenient for use with games that aren't on Steam with the controller support there to configure it as a normal PS4 controller. Button configs are all messed up otherwise outside of Steam. Youll have to use a program to fix the button layout in most games, & learn what button 1/2/3/4 & etc. mean on the controller.
Its very decent for the price which is why I decided to try it out, but honestly unless you have a very young child or super small hands, Id just buy into a normal DS4 PS4 controller. You basically get what you pay for with this controller.
