The story had a good "cold open" to start, but it took a bit for me to understand all the dynamics at play.
Lots of lovely scenes especially as they explored his color blindness. I felt like I didn't get to dive in deep to totally get wrapped up on these characters, but I did enjoy the story.
If you could sum up Wired in three words, what would they be?
Good Sports Romance
What other book might you compare Wired to and why?
I might go across the pond and compare this book to Amy Daws book titled "Challenge". I really haven't read too many sports romances but I have listened to Ms. Daws book and what better challenge than to pit US football against UK soccer.
Which character – as performed by Rebecca Roberts – was your favorite?
It would have to be Clare. She's trying to make a difference in a sport that's more about men than women. And there's her passion to try and help the military. Clare wants to use her expertise for helping others which came from the loss of a loved one.
Any additional comments?
This was an enjoyable book that made my commute more pleasurable. Clare found something out about Marcus and than set out to help him overcome something that most of us take for granted. He of course was fighting the change that came down from up above tooth and nail.
The story seems as if these characters could actually exist. I could picture the story actually happening with no problem. It sounds like such a great idea. Maybe the higher ups in the NFL need to read/listen to this book.
I had no issues with Ms. Roberts in her narration other than when it came to the male characters. It was hard to come up with a picture of what Marcus looked like because of that. But in no way did that stop my enjoyment of the book. And it wouldn't stop me from listening to more books narrated by Ms. Roberts. I had to listen to the ending twice because it seemed like I was left hanging. Have already put book two in my wish list.
If you're a fan of sports romance, whether you read or listen, you may want to check out this book. Or even see what else this author has to offer. Ms. North grabbed my attention with the idea of a woman trying to fit into a man's world and actually making a mark. Marcus was a man that felt like he was losing control of his world but Clare was just showing him an option to harness it. For me, the romance was nice but I really liked the technology versus the sport connection. What a great way to go about finding a series and falling in love with its author.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Audio Copy of this book.
I sincerely enjoyed this advance copy and will read much more by this author.
It’s amazing to me that author Leslie North could pack so much story into a 3 ½ hour audiobook! There’s nothing lacking in this book. There is drama, angst, and plenty of romance. Both Marcus and Clare are characters that you can’t help but like. They both have serious issues in their past that they need to resolve and you’re rooting for them to find happiness.
Rebecca Roberts narrates, it’s the first audiobook that I’ve listened to her read and she does a good job! Her delivery is a little stiff at times, but really, it’s a minor complaint. Rebecca does excel at voicing characters and I’d like to listen to another book with her as a narrator.
This audiobook was received in exchange for an unbiased review!
The narration of . . . WIRED (The Solomon Brothers, #1) . . . Rebecca Roberts did a good job with this one. The experience of Clare and Marcus in their own way. I was a bit thrown off by the Joe character and the slight contradiction on what I was hearing and sound. The sound quality was clean and clear of hiccups. Rebecca brought this book to life and allowed for a true almost real time feel of the action as it unfold. The quality of the recording allowed for the increase in speed without detracting from the basics of the narration.
