It's not perfect. It does have some pros and cons. Here they are:
Pros:
-lets me use a Wii U Pro controller or a Wiimote, or a PS3 controller, or a PS4 controller with my Switch. (one controller at a time per 8Bitdo adapter)
-sync was easy--press the button on the 8bitdo adapter and then press the sync button on the Wii U Pro controller. It's slightly different for other controllers except for PS3 (see cons).
-Just works. I've had zero issues playing games this way. It does not seem to add lag or any other issues.
Cons:
-pairing a PS3 controller requires a windows or mac computer and a program from the 8Bitdo website (included in the firmware download). It works, but it takes work.
-can't turn the Switch on when the Switch is asleep in the dock. The home button on a real Switch controller will turn on the docked Switch but no buttons on a controller connected to the 8Bitdo receiver wake the Switch up.
-no rumble except for PS4 controllers for some reason
-no motion controls except with a PS4 controller. (This is sometimes expected since the Wii U controller doesn't have motion controls built in).
-can only use in dock mode. Well, actually I tried with a USB-C to USB adapter in portable mode and it works, but you'll need a stand or something and you can't plug in your battery charger. I also assume it will affect battery life, but I assume not too much. (I won't be testing because I won't be using it in docked mode)
-no manual except the barest instructions on the back of the box. It at least should tell you to go to their website for the full manual!
Concerns:
-I've had no problems with the adapter interfering with Switch controllers, but it is a a bluetooth adapter when the Switch connects to the official controllers with bluetooth too. I'm thinking about getting a second 8Bitdo adapter, but I wonder when too much bluetooth interference might cause problems.
I know I'm not saying it's the most amazing thing ever, but it really does solve a problem and make controllers I already have useful with the Switch. So I'm really happy with it. I don't care about motion controls and I can live without rumble. As far as actually working with the controllers, it's perfect. I really do suggest this as a way to get controllers working with your switch.
Overall it does work, but I bought it only because I had a surplus of PlayStation controllers, which I can’t use with it for some reason.
If you're using an 8bitdo controller make sure to run the firmware updater, this dongle works fine under windows 10 and X-Input. No latency issues, no controller issues, nothing. It works as expected, and it works and feels just as it does when it is wired. Barring extreme latencyphobes I saw no noticeable lag, it felt no different to my DS4 in these regards. I am generally sensitive to latency, but in the world of wireless controllers you adapt quick since its not 'heavy' or sluggish anymore. The advancements of modern technology, yada yada.
That said you need to run steams identify config to make it work properly with no latency and no button issues. For some reason prior to doing this I could only use the left analog stick and like 1 button. The analog stick would jump 2-3 options, and the button had dire input lag. When running identify it lets you map all of the buttons on the controller, and then you can label it as whatever you please (I just left it default to Xbox One Controller, its fine). Funny thing is, all you're doing is mapping the buttons and viola no pain or suffering.
Reason for not using generic usb bt dongle? For one I dont know if it even works with the 8bitdo controller. Secondly you need very good line of sight, a leg, an arm, or even a wire can hamper your connection. Thirdly latency when using them, since they need perfect line of sight can go from 5ms to 50ms(DS4Windows Latency Meter) in a heart beat resulting in noticeable input lag. I got a generic dongle for my DS4 controller since the official dongle broke, and hooo boy was I a sad sad panda. (PC's and BT, something that never developed properly. Maybe some laptops have good BT receivers). This 8bitdo dongle should work with a DS4, but I couldn't be arsed to test that, simply because I find the SN30 Pro+ to be quite a bit superior in many ways other than rumble. Also this dongle doesn't let you use motion controls wirelessly, the official Sony BT Dongle does. Motion control might not seem important, but when you find a game that you can map it to, you'll miss it(like ED). If I do connect my DS4, because curiosity always bites, i'll update if there are any problems.

This version 2 works flawlessly with the newer Xbox series X controller with no issues. Great little device.
- Plusieurs jeux : Darksiders 1 & 2 - Don't Starve - ELEX - FlatOut 2 & 4 - Hard Reset Redux - LEGO City Undercover - Batman Arkham City - THE KING OF FIGHTERS XIII Galaxy Edition - No Man's Sky... et bien d'autres.
