I would have loved to give the controllers a perfect 5 stars but I've only given it 4 - not because of the controller itself, but because of the receiver dongles that are included. The dongles plug into the SNES Classic console and stick out about 1.5" from the front of the console, but they don't quite fit securely. If you nudge the recievers slightly, they lose contact with the console. I had to use a small dab of hot glue to secure the receivers to the console before tucking the console away. If your console never moves or isn't subject to vibration, this might not be a problem. Aside from that small design flaw, the 8Bitdo controllers are awesome.
Steps:
1) remove the 4 screws from each of the 8bitdo wireless adapters (you will need the appropriate torque screw driver) and open and remove the internals.
2) remove the 4 rubber feet/pads from the bottom of the SNES Classic.
3) remove the 4 screws that were under the rubber feet and carefully open the SNES Classic.
4) remove the two screws which are on the front of the SNES Classic and pull the plastic part in front of the controller sockets out.
5) plug the wireless adapter internals into the controller socket.
6) get electrical tape and wrap the wireless adapter chip.
7) place one of the adapters in the front portion of the SNES Classic and one on the left side of the heat sink (see my picture) and tape them in place so they don’t rattle (see picture).
8) put the socket holes plastic part back on the front with the two screws.
9) close the snes Classic up with the 4 screws and put the rubber feet back on.
10) optional: glue the front cover to the 2 controllers socket holes on the front so it doesn’t open anymore.
It really looks nice and the controllers work the same inside of the SNES as they do on the outside plugged in.

These controllers are great. They are close to the same weight as the traditional SNES controller but without the cord. The buttons are well made and the fit is very close to the original. I haven't found any lag between pressing the controller and my character reacting on screen. I haven't actually made it to the end of a charge yet. I charged them when I first got them, played somewhere between 10-15 hours, and decided to recharge them rather than want to use them but being unable to. The receiver sticks out of the console port about 3 inches. I haven't had any trouble using two of them at the same time other than determining which was controller 1 and which was controller 2 when turning the system on. A bit of sharpie on the back cleared this up.
I would highly recommend these controllers to anyone with a SNES classic.
First and foremost, the controller's connection is incredibly unstable. Despite being advertised as having a 2.4G wireless connection, I experienced frequent dropouts and lag during gameplay. This made it difficult to play games that require precise timing, such as Super Mario World or Donkey Kong Country.
Additionally, the build quality of the controller leaves something to be desired. The buttons feel cheap and lack the satisfying click that you would expect from a high-quality controller. The D-pad is also imprecise and feels mushy, making it difficult to execute moves with precision.
To add insult to injury, the controller's battery life is abysmal. I found myself having to charge it after only a few hours of gameplay, which is simply unacceptable. And because the battery is not removable, there's no way to swap it out for a fresh one when it dies.
Overall, I was extremely disappointed with 8Bitdo's SN30 Wireless Controller. It falls short in almost every aspect, from its unstable connection to its poor build quality and short battery life. If you're looking for a reliable and high-quality controller for your SNES Classic Edition, I would suggest looking elsewhere. This one simply doesn't cut it.

And yes I do have the Bluetooth wireless adapter for my system as well, and I've tried out the PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Wii classic, and Switch pro controllers with the SNES classic. None of them are as easy to use, authentic in feel, or as low in input lag as this controller. The only better controller would be an SNS-102 SNES controller with a mod kit to make it wireless.
accidentally move the character in your game on an angle... For example when playing link to the past, when walking straight up sometimes link will walk on an angle even though my thumb is pressing up.... No issues with input lag...
I prefer this controller over the Insigna model. The 8BitDo has a built-in battery that last quite a long time. No AA or AAA batteries to bother with. Because of that, the back is flat just like the wired controller. The other one I used required batteries so the back was protuding because of the battery bay and the overall weigh felt also different. It wasn't quite the same "classic" feeling. This controller feels much closer like the original. Little details can go a long way!
Best pro: Access to Home Screen by pressing Down + Select instead of having to push Reset on the console.
Small con: To connect with the dongle, you have to press Start which also makes an input and opens whatever game the console boots up with. Annoying but all you have to do is use the Best Pro feature above! ;-)
This one is perfect. It works with both NES and SNES Classic consoles.
This works perfectly. It feels and controls just like the original, and the fact that it has a built in shortcut for the console's Reset Button is super handy for reaching the main menu without having to get up off the couch. Also, the controller needed no firmware updates. Just charge the controller, plug in the Bluetooth adapter, and it will work right out of the box.
If I had to nitpick, the Bluetooth adapter that plugs into the Classic's controller port is rather large and unsightly. Also, I would have liked the charging port to be Type C, rather than Type B.
