6 amps allows you to use two 15' RGB LED strips.
Have had no issue with dimming to near zero percent as some other reviewers have had issue with.
24 volt option for double wide strips.
Plastic tabs that you need to press to insert the wire are flimsy. I broke two tabs trying to insert 12ga wire for the 6amp power supply. Would much rather have screw terminals.
It seems that adding other Zigbee devices to the Smartthings hub can cause the hub to break communication with the ballast which requires a power cycle. Not a huge deal once you realize what was causing it.
A little pricey but still cheaper than some other options.
Can be a little tricky to setup if not using a Hue bridge or the bridge the vendor sells.
UPDATE: Bumped this up to 5 stars.
I have been using this for over a year now and have only had minor issues. I have had to power cycle this twice due to a firmware update on my Smart Things controller. Otherwise it has worked flawlessly with my Google Home via interfacing with my Smart Things hub. Color changes and turning strips on and off only take about a second to update with voice commands. Can change the intensity and color with the Smart Things app on my phone as well.
It shows up in the app as two separate lights - the white channel appears as a dimmable lamp, and the RGB channel shows up as a separate color addressable lamp. The Scene-configuration system in the app allows you to gang these two together and work with them fairly naturally using a single control.
It has a flat back surface for taping up along with your strips, and notches for screwing it into place as an alternative. You'll need to provide your own screws or tape either way.
One important note - the silkscreened wiring diagram on the device is incorrect, and transposes the red and green channels - You'll need to connect the red wire to the terminal labelled "green", and vice vs. This will be pretty obvious though, because the correct wiring corresponds perfectly to the standard wiring order of most RGBW strips.
EDIT: Updates to the Amazon Echo within the past year since I originally wrote this review have added native support for it. The two lights this creates (the white channel and color channel are treated as separate devices) can be grouped into rooms and used in conjunction with other devices, no longer requiring IFTTT as a workaround).
After having these for a while I have found that after sometime they stop responding and have to be powered down and back up to make it work again. They do pair and work for a time but it's annoying to have to reset these. Will probably not buy again.
