Jeremy Taylor is a master dream weaver and teacher. I read the original "Where People Fly"... and this book was long overdue to be renewed and energized. I have worked with Jeremy in a dream group and this is a truly joyful and enlightening experience. I hear his voice and wisdom imparted in this wonderful book. He offers a specific blueprint to build your dream work upon. Dr. Taylor is a wizard and his extensive love of dreams shines through this narrative. The book is practical in its scope of how dreams connect us to ourselves, others and the universe. This book is highly recommended no matter what stage of dream work a person finds themselves.

I've heard author Jeremy Taylor referred to as a master, dream weaver, wizard, and teacher. From the decades of experience he has with dream work, it only seems right that his book should do a top-notch job at sharing his methods. This revision of "Where People Fly and Water Runs Uphill" is fresh, approachable, and best of all, life-enhancing. The hippie within me loves his message that dreams are tools for personal and social change. The analyst in me demands solid case studies and specific steps to achieve that, and on this, Taylor delivers.

I have not only started a dream-group but also started helping my daughter with addressing her son's troubling dreams. This book touches on how childhood trauma can continue to recur in adult dreams but what can you do when the person is still a child? We found The Nightmare Solution to be a great guide for working out his dreams through drawing exercises - something I think I think Taylor would encourage as we are following still his four core principles:

1. All dreams speak a universal language and come in the service of health and wholeness.
2. Only the dreamer can say with any certainty what meaning his or her dream may have.
3. There is no such thing as a dream with only one meaning.
4. No dreams come just to tell you what you consciously already know.

I espected to find some guidance to understanding my dreams, while it was mainly about the importance of dreaming and its benefit for our society. Personally I wish it had spoken more about how to "read" one's own dreams. Maybe it was targeted to people who already know how to do it.

I have used this book twice now in my classes on dreams on the college level, and students invariably dislike it, despite the wealth of great information. The first time this happened I was annoyed at my students for their feeling that Taylor talks too much, makes too much of himself, and is an untrustworthy witness. Having met the man and found him to be a sweet soul, I tried to explain to my students that they were wrong. Second year, same thing. So maybe he does goes on too long and maybe he does sometimes appear to be a little pompous. He certainly is NOT untrustworthy. Maybe it's just that college students are little too critical? Who knows?

Like many people, I was drawn to group dreamwork through reading Jeremy's original book, "Where People Fly and Water Runs Uphill." 17 years later, my dream group is still meeting almost every week, and 4 of us are original members of the group we started back then. I have recommended this book to many, many people over the years, and it was with great pleasure that I picked up "The Wisdom of Your Dreams" recently and re-read the material that got me curious about dreams in the first place.

Jeremy's book still stands, and his insights are as fresh and valid today in this revised edition than they were when the book first came out. I particularly loved the last section, "Dreams and the Evolution of Human Consciousness," new material that has given me much to think about in terms of the role that dreams play not just for individuals but for cultural growth and change. I highly recommend this book, and will continue to do so for years to come!

This is one of the best books on understanding dreams that I have ever read. "All dreams come in the service of healing" is Taylor's main thesis and his many years of exploring dreams and his positive approach to exploring both dreams and nightmares shines on every page. I have been working with dreams for many years and this is the first book I have read that invites the dreamer to make sense of their own dreams at many different levels. Books that rise from an author's long and deep first hand experience distinguish themselves by their honesty and depth rather than a formulaic self-help spin and are to be treasured, as their message is both authentic and inspirational. This is one of those supremely authentic books. Do yourself a lifelong favor and read this book.

When I sought out a book on dream work I wanted to know how to interpret my dreams however I have learned much, much more in this book. For example how drugs and alcohol effect REM sleep, thus dreams. And how dreams move one toward health and wholeness in life, in that dreams provide an opportunity to evaluate the meaning and gain valuable insight. It is a fascinating book and the author an excellent writer. As such this book is written in a sophisticated manner I would estimate at at least a 12th grade reading level with some concepts I learned in college therefore not a beginner book. I so appreciate a book that awakens concepts I thought I had forgotten!

Thank you.

Linda
