I was lucky to be able to go to a presentation by Blair Stocker at DryGoods in Ballard, WA. Blair brought examples of the projects in the book, so you could examine what she had made. It was very inspiring to get to see the creative way she used materials that you can find at your local thrift store. What I liked was that the instructions were easy to follow, and depending on your "find", each project would be different. The lampshade that I will make will be different than the one she made. I am searching for an old painting that I can add to. I am also planning to do the dip-dyed toile dishes. What a great idea to add a splash of color to everyday dishes. I do have to say that the zombie barbie dolls is one of my favorite projects in the book. I liked that is was something I would have never have thought of to make.

I also really like that the book is divided up into seasons. All of the projects were beautifully photographed, the instructions were easy to follow, and the book had a good flow to it, that made it easy to read. Her blog [...] has so many projects that I am hoping she will write another book.

I'm a frequent purchaser of both craft and art books... This is one of the most "artistic" craft books I've seen. The lovely thumbnail photos at the beginning of each seasonal chapter give you a hint of the wonderfully original projects to come. I liked the book for some of the simpler home projects like the covered journals and thrift store painting makeovers, but I'm definitely thinking about making one of the cool quilts!

I had big hopes for this book, as I am always on the lookout for books such as this. The projects are not at all challenging or new. Cutting a silhouette out of a piece of leather to use as a coaster? Taking the cover off a hardcover book and using the book as a trivet? Making a clay trinket bowl? These did not meet my expectations. There were only a couple projects that interested me. I hope that if the author writes another book she uses her crafting skills to come up with more creative projects. I look forward to it!

What a great book!! Inspiring, beautiful and chock full of so many great ideas. Blair is a pioneer of the craft blog community, having shared her ideas for almost 10 years!! I love that some of her older craft ideas (from her blog) are in this book because they are pretty darn great and deserve their place in this fabulous book. The layout is lovely, everything categorized into seasonal projects. The ideas are fun, fresh, inspiring and totally doable. The photographs are gorgeous! If you love making old into new in a fresh and modern way, this is the book for you!

I this this is a fantastic book for anyone looking to dip their toes in the crafting world. Blair has such a lovely aesthetic and voice...I wish we could craft together! I especially loved the creative re-use of thrift store finds...and lots of crafts to do with kids, too! Highly recommended.

I bought this for my wife and she loves it. Not only is my wife very crafty, but she loves thrift shopping. She has been pointing out all the things she wants to make. Flipping through the book, I can see why she loves it. Lots of content, great layout and a ton of pictures.

I was greatly disappointed in this book. Nothing new when it comes to recycling plus the outcome of the projects were nothing outstanding & I would not make any other projects. Thumbs down to this book & a waste of money.

My favorite project was the faux taxidermy, but she has lots of beautiful and stylish and easy to make ideas. Indeed some are the same boring cut out a sillhouette, and one or two less than useful projects, but I thought most were modern and/or fun. The Halloween ideas are the best, Halloween decor generally looks mass produced and cheap, her ideas are unique and artistic. Couple good ideas for gifts too. She comes up with fun ways to up cycle things that started out looking too old fashioned or gaudily painted. Highly recommend.
