I took a chance on ordering this exquisite book “Wise Trees”. In my house I have a huge stack of photography books that do nothing but collect dust after looking at them once. I’ve already read and enjoyed this stunning and insightful book three times and I’m sure I will spend many future hours enjoying the book’s art and insight. Like so many nature lovers trees have always been awe-inspiring to me. Being in a forest has always been a place to heal from the never ending pressures of our modern society. The striking photos and well written words of Diane Cook & Len Jenshel have expanded my knowledge base about the interaction between nature and humans. I honestly feel that this is a book that can be appreciated by both children and adults. I would not hesitate to recommend “Wise Trees” to anyone and everyone.

I purchased this book as a gift for my father - a retired nurseryman. He, and everyone else in the family, has been captivated by the superb photographs and great narratives. It's a "coffee table book" that doesn't just sit on the coffee table! I have been disappointed in the past by the small amount of actual content in some expensive photography books ... not the case with Wise Trees: a great book with nearly 200 pages of pictures.

Awesome beautiful coffee table book with real substance. Travel the world with Diane and Len and visit the most revered and special trees from all corners of the earth. The photography is magnificent, the stories behind the trees revealing, and by the time you turn the last page you will feel like you've had a magnificent tour of nature and how it affects people (and visa versa) around the world. Beautiful printing, luxurious paper, the whole package is just lovely. This is an outstanding gift for any person with eyes.

Len Jenshel and Diane Cook's "Wise Trees" is an absolutely stunning book, perhaps the finest book of it's kind that I've seen in years. The photographs are rich and evocative and the reproductions are superb. It is clear that every detail in the composition and production of this book was considered and executed with the utmost care. These beautiful photographs are often moving. Some are simply gorgeous, other magically made me laugh and feel their bittersweetness at the same time. Although these photographs speak for themselves, the thoughtfully written accompanying text provides illuminating background and historical perspective.

This is a really cool book of gorgeous photographs of trees all over the world and fascinating short stories/histories about the trees. The combination of exquisite photographs AND compelling storytelling are really superb. Photographers aren't often great storytellers (and vice versa) but Cook and Jenschel are. It's armchair travel at its best, where you connect with the remarkable tree that is part of everyday life in an African village, European park, Indian holy site, etc. The stories tell you why locals value the tree, what they do at or around the tree, and what they believe about the tree and its history. It's one of those books that you keep coming back to.

It has been a privilege to submerge myself in the stunning Diane Cook/Len Jenshel photography book “Wise Trees.” What a joy to travel around the world through its pages, visiting the amazing trees and their remarkable stories.
The photographs are an invitation: from the sacred Bodhi Tree in India to the Ema Wishing Tree in Japan to the Wedding Oak in San Saba Texas. From the Tane Mahuta in New Zealand to The Magna Carta Yew in England.
The book is a masterpiece and will bring inspiration to any home it lives in.

The pictures in this book are incredible. My only negative comment is that the font with the descriptions and stories about the trees are too small. I would have given 5 stars if the font was larger, some pages were difficult to read.

What a stunning book! The amazing photos are a tribute to the trees in our world and the beautifully-written accompanying text shares their wisdom and cultural and historical significance of their place in it. Very high quality images and artfully designed. I would highly recommend this
book to anyone who wants to experience our world in a richer way. I love it. I received it two days ago and have already ordered it to give as a gift (wonderful gift idea)!

I’ve just received this book and have only glanced through it so far. The trees and the photos are wonderful and I can see it is a book I will linger over and enjoy coming back too. It is understandable since the photographers are Americans that many of the trees are from that country and they are amazing. However, if you are European don’t expect to see homegrown trees. There are one or two but enjoy exploring the treasures of India, Japan, the Far East and the antipodes instead of more local ones. It’s a real eye opener.

Kindle version is very good.

I hesitated for a while over buying this book on kindle as I was concerned that the kindle format would struggle with so may photographs, but it is really good.
I can't increase the font size, but both text and pictures enlarge by 'spreading' so that book is easy to read and photographs are seen in detail.
