Carter Wothyla thought he found forever when he met Jenahra. However, as with all good things, it comes to an end. He spends the next twenty years, wandering through the dating scene aimlessly, trying to find a woman that compares to her. Never marrying or having children of his own, Carter has found contentment in being alone. But as luck would have it, he attends a wedding that leads him back to the love of his life and he refuses to let go this time despite the obstacles before him.
Jenahra and Carter have a past that is riddled in secrets, lies, and passion, but their chemistry is undeniable. While Carter is full steam ahead to win her heart, Jenahra has life decisions to make. Will those decisions push Carter out of her life once and for all or will she choose to live for herself and possibly face ridicule for it?

About the author

Romance author Monica Walters is best known as the queen of country hood love stories. As an Amazon best-selling author, with multiple award nominations and 2021 winner of Literary Jewels Literary Awards for Best Romance Author, Monica has always had a passion for creating different worlds with words. Starting with poetry, writing has always been a constant in Monica's life. The interest began in her teenage years, being in love for the first time. Her love for writing has only progressed. Song lyrics and poetry led to short stories, then one day in her down time, a short story became a full-length novel, which was self-published in 2014.
The first country hood love story, 8 Seconds to Love, published in 2019, led to a string of novels highlighting country living from rodeos to ranches, but with the characters maintaining the urban dialect that readers love from her. Monica was born and raised in Beaumont, Texas, but she now resides in Nome, Texas, where most of her country stories take place. Besides being a wife and mother, attaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology has only helped her become a better writer, understanding characters and their complex personalities.

I mean, you gonna have a relationship with God and still have one with your siblings without being so judgmental.
I understood she wanted to separate herself from her family so that she wouldn't be judged for her poor decisions.
Those children were starved for father's lof and it showed once a real man stepped up. This is why young ladies have daddy issues. Look how quickly her daughter took to a man showing assemblies of kindness. Even though he was a good guy.
Her children were suffering and she still endured I can't respect that.
That man would have killed her if Malcolm had not showed up in her life.
Now, all the family Tea 🍵 that is being spilled on Daddy & Momma.... OMG!
I knew they had to be more going on.
As they say the grass aint always greener even in big city little town 😉
I like the notion of 20 years of unrequited love. I felt that Jen and Carter deserved the love and affection from the other. However, there were so many weighty topics and themes that at times it overwhelmed me and overshadowed an otherwise beautiful story about second chance love.
All in all, good book just wish that the drama was scaled back.
