The Wish List (Meddling Friends Book 1) Kindle Edition
During a night of drunken frivolity, they concoct a plan. They're going to send a letter to Santa on Kelsie's behalf, asking for a girlfriend for Christmas. It's all fun and good humor for Kelsie until, the very next day, she meets Randa, a seemingly perfect woman who possesses all the attributes her friends specifically requested for her in their letter.
When a chance encounter brings another woman into Kelsie's life, though, she begins to wonder whether perfect is necessarily right and if Santa could have been way off the mark.

About the author

Riley LaShea is the author of a bunch of novels in a bunch of genres that so frequently combine into a single book, she spends a lot of time thinking, “Now, how the hell do I categorize this?”
She travels a lot (when the world is open), and has lived in a (mostly) lovely assortment of cities in multiple states and two countries.
She currently lives in Las Vegas with her wildly sarcastic, yet oddly charming spouse Shawna, but we’ll see how long that lasts. The location… not the wife.
Just for kicks, and to dabble in murder and mayhem, she writes police procedural thriller series, 21 Weeks, under pen name R.A. LaShea.

Book 1 - Kelsie is the lone single girl in her group of friends. Her straight best friend Melissa is married to Jay, her other straight friend Doug is married to Ashley and gay Brian and Kip complete the happy couples around her. Kelsie’s madcap friends love and want the best for her so they make a Christmas wish for her perfect woman. When, the next day, she meet’s blonde bombshell Randa their wishes seem to be coming true. But then Kelsie takes a trip with Randa, has an accident and is rescued by another beautiful woman…therapist Laken. Might Laken, rather than Randa, be the answer to Kelsie’s own wishes?
Very sweet seasonal tale (set in Canada for a change). There are no huge surprises as it’s obvious to the reader early on who Kelsie should be with. That said, it’s really sweet (without being cringingly mushy) and well done. I can’t quite make up my mind about the mystical bit near the end. Some may love it though…read it yourself and find out!
Book 2 - Even better than the first book in my opinion. I previously said in my review of this author’s book ‘Club Storyville’: “I thought Radclyffe was the mistress of suppressed longing but Riley LaShea certainly gives her a run for her money here! The difference is that Radclyffe’s suppressed longing is nearly always largely sexual whilst LaShea’s feels like it’s truly a longing of the heart and soul.” Here, LaShea is masterful at piling on the longing of both the heart and soul AND the sexual. Kelsie and her love take Doug’s bet to wait as long as he waited for Ashley to consummate their passion (5 months). The sensual build up is fabulously done and when they do finally succumb, WOW, just WOW! I’ve never before read a sex scene where there is absolutely zero explicitness and crudity but which delivers so powerfully. A wonderful achievement!
Kelsie is a fascinating, complex character. She has a massive ‘chip on her shoulder’ regarding her origins (which I won’t spoil but which you’ll learn about as you read this series of books). In this she has to contend with an overly protective brother whilst also trying to sort out her own mother’s rocky romantic path (with largely unhelpful interference as usual from her gang of friends). As the title suggests, there are ultimately four proposals, but only one wedding…
Book 3 – A beautiful end to a beautiful series. Kelsie and her lover take a romantic trip abroad while she gets to know her lovers family (and has to face a number of challenges on the way). Just when things seem to be going ok, two unexpected events occur – her friends gate-crash the holiday and she meets an orphan who grabs a hold on her heart. This final tale is bittersweet but ultimately uplifting and whilst it doesn’t pan out in a predictable way you know Kelsie and her love are going to be ok.
You may have gathered by now that I loved this series and all the characters. It’s really well written romantic fiction and puts so much other stuff that’s out there to shame. I could happily read more about Kelsie and Co. Take note Riley LaShea: I’d love an update book maybe a few years down the line…?

Well written, endearing story and characters and so many chuckles my face hurt.
A joy to read.
