We all remember those days when we harbored secret crushes and felt butterflies anytime the object of our affections walked by. Those memories came rushing back as I read about Jen's hot, hot crush and how fervently I would similarly wish upon a star for my own crush to return the sentiment. But what happens when two girls like the same guy? He'd probably go for the more popular "hot" girl, right?

As we grow and mature, when we are young we turn to the outside world to see the reflection of who we are. If we're not popular in the eyes of our high school's peers, we must be nothing. Our worth, before we reach adulthood, is firmly mired in what others think of us. So when Jen feels dejected that a more popular girl in school likes the same guy she does, all she can think is "Why would he pick me over her?" And boy, does that bring back some memories!

I won't give away the ending but this book has brought back a lot of my adolescent memories. Harboring a crush, feeling dejected because you're not popular or pretty enough, feeling powerless to change the world around you... But once Jen gains some more confidence in herself and her abilities, her person shines through the pages and makes you believe that we can achieve anything... as long as you stick to your guns.

I am so tired of teen romance books that turn out to be trash. So when I saw the reviews for Wish Upon a Star, I was very encouraged. This is an incredibly sweet romance about set in all too familiar situations, the school dance, the crush, the cute boy. I loved it. It's a clean read. No inappropriate situations at all. I gladly gave this to my 12 year old daughter who is starting to go through that "boy phase." It's so important to have sweet, clean, appropriate books out there for pre-teen and teen girls. FIVE stars all the way from this mom!

I found this an adorable romance that took me back to a time when I had much less to worry about but what I worried about seemed so much more important than any problem I have today. Jen is a lovable character, probably typical, but still fully realized. She is encouraged by her friends but doubts herself. I won't give it away, but it is a very romantic ending. A very fun short novel that made me very nostalgic.

This story took me back to high school days of insecurity and trepidation. Does the guy I like like me back? Are my friends, really my friends? If you like a sweet romance and a stroll down memory lane, this book will definitely tug at your heart strings!

Sabrina Sumsion's `Wish Upon a Star' may not be breaking any new ground, but it can sure compel you to stroll down memory lane (that is, if you're already past the adolescent period) remembering your first crush, your first heartache, your fears and insecurities that seemed to mean the entire world for us back then. Having said that, I'd say this book is a delicious read: download a copy and expect to get swept away to Jen's world as she agonizes over winning over her subject of affection: the handsome David Stauffer.

Jen's story is probably all too familiar for many girls--you swoon over the campus hot guy, but like what Buddha said, what you desire is also desired by others. And things can get tricky if your rival happens to be the school's popular cheerleader--what, then, will you do?

`Wish Upon a Star' is indeed a story about a girl making a long shot at her own happiness, and the process of how she goes about it can leave you giggling, chuckling, shaking your head, and laughing your heart out in some places. Overall, it is a book that will entertain you long after you've finished reading the book. It can leave you basking in the afterglow of Jen's romance--and in my vocabulary, that can only be a great experience. Download a copy now--enjoyment guaranteed!

I really enjoyed Wish Upon a star. It was very well written and the characters were well developed. We were introduced to Jen who wishes to ask her crush David to the upcoming dance. Since it's a girl's choice dance, Jen and her friends set out to ask their respective interests. I liked how each character had a distinct and likeable personality. I found myself enthralled in the story and couldn't wait for the happy ending. The friendships in the story really added a nice dimension to what transpires. The story is very modern and young readers would have no problem relating to the story.
