Product Description

Wishbone Bike - a TIME Magazine Design 100 product. Pure toddler joy - it's so easy to ride. With it's sustainable design and innovative 3-bikes-in-1 feature, Wishbone Bike from New Zealand is the ultimate pre-bike! 1 Wishbone Bike starts at age 1 with 3 wheels - lightweight and super stable. 2 Then it converts to a 2 wheel balance bike. 3 Later, the unique "wishbone" frame can be flipped, making Wishbone Bike one of the largest balance bikes on the market. Made from sustainably-harvested birch wood, non-toxic glues and finishes, and recycled packaging, Wishbone Bike is widely understood as the 'best-in-category' thanks to its functionality, design aesthetic and eco credentials. Suitable from 12 months to 5 years.

From the Manufacturer

Unlike any other running bikes, the Wishbone bike evolves with a child's different stages of development. It starts at age 1 as a trike, converts to a running bike as the child grows, and by four to five years old, the wishbone frame is flipped, making the Wishbone Bike one of the largest running bikes on the market. With its environmentally sustainable design and innovative 3-bikes-in-1 feature, the Wishbone bike, designed in New Zealand, really is the ultimate pre-bike. Every Wishbone Bike has 60% post-consumer recycled plastic wheels, is made from sustainably managed woods and is bonded and finished with quality products. The Bike box and all printed material inside is recycled and printed with non-toxic inks.

Our 11 month old son LOVES his Wishbone bike. He isn't walking yet, but already has this bike moving! It was easy to put together and we anticipate stress free adaptations to the other configurations (3-wheeler > 2-wheeler).
No negative feedback.

*Over 3 years later this bike is still going strong. We now have 3 children and they all love Wishbones! All 3 were riding before walking. These bikes are amazing!

This is a high quality... ...but the front wheel holes do not align properly allowing the front wheel to be crooked/angled. I need to contact the OEM to correct the issue. My son loves I nevertheless! I would have given it five stars if it were not for this defect. This product is way too expensive for such a defect!

I bought this bike for my 15 month old after a test drive in a local toy store. The first time he sat on the bike, he zipped past us out the door and down the hallway in the mall. He LOVED IT SO MUCH. His height is average and his motor skills development are slightly above average. While there was a learning curve, he's figured out how to steer and back up to get around tight corners. The only trouble he's had with the bike was hitting his heels on the back bar that supports the wheels in the three wheel configuration. The bar catches the back of his shoes and pulls them off of his feet or makes the bike unstable. We solved the problem by having him wear Skidders (http://www.amazon.com/Pre-Walk-Skidders-Skull-Pattern-Shoes/dp/B002ECW7TO/ref=pd_sbs_shoe_7a) while riding. Since the walking surface joins smoothly to the sock top, it doesn't catch on the bar. Shortly after that, he developed enough skill to adjust his stride so that his feet stopped hitting the bar. We haven't had problems with the hardware other than his enthusiasm for tearing off the black foam seat cover. If you have the option, I'd recommend buying the additional seat cover with the bike to protect the padding from enthusiastic little fingers. The seat cover isn't available in the US as a separate purchase for another couple of months. I had to contact the manufacturer in New Zeland to order one. Although international shipping is a pain in the butt, they were wonderfully friendly and helpful.

I initially learned about this product on the mothering.com forums and put the purchase off for awhile. Recently I happened to go to a boutique store and my daughter, 2.5, jumped right on the tricycle and started moving it right away. Anything my daughter loves, I love, so I ordered it right away and I am confident it will last much longer than any other balance bike.

Awesome bike! The only thing that I would suggest is selling a stand for it. My boy doesn't like to leave it laying on the ground and it would be nice to have a stand. The bike itself is great quality and looks great!

Great design. Rolls and steers wonderfully. The kids really love it. The soft foam seat could be better in terms of resiliency. The optional seat cover rectifies this for the most part. I would also want the handlebar grips to be more rigid - no movement or twisting - currently they can be twisted around the handlebar. This can be remedied with some rubber cement but then you have committed to those grips. All said, a very nice product - I would recommend it.

This is an extremely well constructed, good quality balance bike. My daughter (17months) is on the smaller side (25%ile) so is still a little bit short for this but is already interested in the bike and trying to use it. As soon as she grows half an inch, we will be off and running! The tires are sturdy, the frame is bigger than I anticipated as a tricycle which is good for starting out. Took a little longer than anticipated to put together, and the directions were a little confusing but I did it in less than an hour.

Super well made, so thoughtfully constructed. So nice when companies put effort into making toys that will last a long time not only because they are durable but they are able to function in multiple ways.
