I read this book with my six year old son. He is a pretty good reader and was able to read it with some help on larger words. The problem was he loved the story so much he wanted to read it faster so instead of this being something he read on his own, we took turns reading so he could find out what happend faster. He really connected to the main character because there were many parallels between his home life and ours. My son loved this book so much, and I loved how interested in reading he was with this book. Every night he requested we continue reading the story and when I told him it was time to stop for the night he would beg to keep going. - Amber
As an avid reader, retired schoolteacher, and grandmother, I found this book to be amazing. It was adventurous and I learned a little bit about the past. It was a quick read. It had a little bit of something for everyone, and kept me interested to the end and, I can't wait for the next installment.
As a former teacher, I appreciated all of the things the author was able to teach a young reader. - Kathy
I had the opportunity to read this book with a 1st grader. She and I both enjoyed the story. It was refreshing to see the excitement in her eyes and actions while reading together. The book is high interest as well as readable with some words that challenge young readers. This series is a great gift that can be a special connection between you and your young reader. Looking forward to reading each book as they come. - Natalie and Wes
