The twenty-two women who contributed to the book are from a variety of backgrounds, and represent a cross-section of the Body of Christ. Single, married, divorced, mothers, friends, encouragers, living on the east coast, west coast and multiple points between. Few of life’s challenges, joys and heartbreaks haven’t been experienced by the writers, but they all look to one place for their comfort, joy, purpose and hope. Every story points to the Word of God.
General topics covered are worship, humor, family, spiritual growth and women’s issues and each devotional in each topic is well written. I enjoyed them all but “Insomnia Intervention,” (I can relate) the hilarious “Bark, Please” and “Toolbars, Widgets, and Docks, Oh My!” and the inspirational “Planning Ahead to Serve Others” are some favorites. Oh, and “The Kiss!” What a wonderful perspective, along with that in “Unfulfilled Dreams.” Actually, there are no disappointments.
The title and subtitle say it all. Except for one phrase: “A 12-Week Devotional…” I devoured it in 2 days!
is well written, as well as relatable. The word pictures given are phenomenal and have a way of drawing the reader into the very place the author is describing. One of my favorite things is to find the picture of each author in the back of the book and put a face to the lesson, encouragement , or inspiration given. I marvel at the insight of each of them, and find it motivating to want the same in my studies of God's Holy Word. I highly recommend this book for your own library, or as a gift to those you would like to bless.
Full disclosure, my wife is one of the contributors to this book. I'm glad she is, because she's in very good company! I'm so happy to see her words alongside those of so many other really gifted women who were brave enough to share their thoughts, their stories, and their prayers.
I think this devotional will encourage everyone who reads it!
