Masane Amaha is a woman on the fringe of society, bouncing rootless from town to town with her daughter, Rihoko. The fan-service adventure Witchblade (2006) is another trans-Pacific hybrid: a Japanese TV series based on an American comic. Masane Amaha and her obnoxiously precocious daughter Rihoko were discovered amid the ruins after an earthquake devastated 22nd century Japan. During the disaster, she somehow acquired the sentient ultimate weapon, the Witchblade. When Masane comes near an X-Con, a prototype cyborg made by Douji Industries from human cadavers, the Witchblade causes her to morph into a fighting fiend--in an outfit Pamela Anderson might wear in a sequel to The Dark Knight. The Witchblade supposedly endows the wielder with "insatiable lust and unthinkable power," but Masane gets her exposed derrière kicked by women using Cloneblades, imitation Witchblades the Douji Group also created. Maria, the most powerful Cloneblader, emerges as a potential rival to Masane. When she decides to seize control of Douji Industries, the audience is left to wonder how and why she went from an undisciplined, infantile killer to a disciplined, mature killer. The inevitable duel between Masane and Maria atop Tokyo Tower suggests High Noon with implants. Masane triumphs over Maria and the power of the Witchblade in a finale that's simultaneously gory and mawkish. Although the convoluted plot stumbles along like Masane after a binge, Witchblade will delight adolescent boys who want to watch fights between overendowed, under-dressed babes. I should preface this with, I'm more of a fan of The Darkness than The Witchblade. Though, Witchblade is still badass in its own right and deserves respect, considering The Darkness first made its debut in the Witchblade comics. Concerning The Witchblade anime; I remember seeing clips of the early episodes on Adult Swim when I was younger and always thought it was cool, as well as the soundtrack. After getting about halfway through the series since I got this, I've definitely enjoyed the ride thus far. I actually really enjoy the dub of this, I think they did a great job. The series has quite the amount of fan service, if you couldn't tell from the box. So if you're vehemently against that, you probably won't enjoy it. Or at least just that aspect, if you have an open enough mind to give it a chance. Though on the other hand, if you were a Witchblade fan to begin with, it would be rather hypocritical to hold that against this version of the series. Considering Sara Pezzini (the Witchblade user in the comics), has plenty of sex appeal herself. Aside from all of that, the story has been good, hopefully the ending is just as good. If you can get your hands on the soundtrack, definitely pick it up, as you can only really find it on the used market. It's worth having, it has plenty of nice metal tracks as well as calmer tracks.

Amazing anime must watch. Witchblade is one of my top ten favorite anime highly underrated. Shipping was fast and Blu-ray arrived in excellent condition. The anime follows Mesane the new bearer of the witch blade and her daughter ryoko after the great quake. The Douji corporation hires Mesane to hunt down the ex-cons failed Douji experiments running loose in the city of Tokyo murdering civilians. Douji groups rival the Nswf dispatches cloneblades after Mesane because they wish to capture the witch blade for themselves to further their cloneblade experiments. The fights in this anime are done really well and the animation quality is really good. The anime does have quite a bit of fan service, but you never see any full on nudity. This anime also has an excellent supporting cast. My ratings for this anime are. Music 10/10 the score is one of the best in anime. Animation 9/10 fluid animation when in combat, but sometimes the background animation is not up to par. Story 9/10 the anime starts out as a typical villian of the week, but quickly changes to an interesting investigative treat similar to death note. Characters 9/10 Mesane and Ryoko are two interesting characters and they are very diverse with amazing voice dub voice actors. Especially Mesane voiced by Jamie Marchi. The supporting cast is also one of the better supporting cast in anime. Highlights include journalist Tozawa, Reji and Reina. So don't be fooled by the fanservice because underneath is a very rich and engrossing anime story waiting to be uncovered.

The product arrived on time and in good shape. No problems with packaging and delivery at all. Now for the Witchblade Series. I liked it, hence the 4 Stars, but I wish it would have had a different ending. Spoiler - I wish our heroine (Mesame Amaha) could have survived to be with her adoptive daughter. I think those 2 were my favorite parent-child couple in any of the anime series I've seen. The writers killed her off at the end and I guess will have her biological father take care of her, at least that's the way it looked and our heroine wanted him to take care of her. I would rather have seen changes and additional episodes to have perhaps the lady editor become the little girl's (Rikio I think) mother. They got to know each other and became pretty good friends and her daughter and Rikio became close, or maybe she could stay with the people at the diner whom she had grown quite fond of and they loved her too. Her biological father will have a lot of questions to answer after all that was coming out about what took place 6 years ago and the present and his involvement in the company. To which, even if he didn't suffer any penalties, he's not going to have a job. He didn't seem to me to be that qualified to actually take care of Mesame's daughter, though he did become Mesame's lover and Rikio did like him. It's just that I think she needs a mother figure in her young life, not to replace Mesame, but to provide the nurturing and love that I don't think the father, who's only known Rikio for a short time, could provide. It didn't seem like there would be another woman in his life after Mesame died. Well this is my opinion.

I love this series. Seriously. Now, here is the big thing, if you were a fan of the Top Cow comic book, this doesn't follow along. It is inspired by the comic and takes some of the aspects of the comic, but it's not the same. I know someone on here has already given a very detailed write up involving that so I am not going to double up on it... but I did want to point it out.

That being said, I really like what they did with it. I think the character development is excellent in this series. The action is great. The artwork is fantastic. The over all story line is well developed. My biggest complaint is that it is only 24 episodes. When this was over I was so disappointed that it was over. It really left me wanting more.

This show has everything IMO. It has the story of a struggling single mother and the love between her and her daughter, a guy with serious mommy issues, a brat with an attitude problem, greed and power, high tech military weaponry, political arguments, and boobs! If you are just looking for an Anime with fan service, this isn't really the one you want. If you want a series that has everything else I listed above, then this is a great pick! Don't get me wrong, when the girls transform they show a lot of skin, but this is not Elfen Lied or Dance in the Vampire Bund when it comes to showing nudity. This is just an amazing series with some great artwork that I will never get sick of watching.

On the whole, if you're a fan of the Witchblade comics then you know what you're in for in terms of fan service. Think of this more as a separate tale from the comics and their characters with yet another Witchblade wielder, despite some of the creative liberties this series takes. If you're not a fan of the comics, this could wet your appetite to see where it all started.

Produced in conjunction with top cow productions who produce the witchblade comic books. This is a new twist in the witchblade story. Set in tokyo in the near future Masane Amaha and her daughter Rihoko just want to live a peaceful life together. But that is not to be as soon as they come ashore they are picked up by the Nsfw. An organisation set up to look after children whose parents can not support or look after them. Masane agrees to let them take her daughter. But she changes her mind at the last minute and cchases after them in a police car but crashes during the chase and is arrested and put in jail. Mean while else where in tokyo horific murders are being commited. Buy geneticly engineered weapons who look like normal humans but change in to monsters with a craving for power.While in the jail at the police station on such weapon is locked up. The craving to kill is to much for the man and he turns into a monster kiling the gaurds he makes his way through the prison stopping outside masanes cell. What happens next unknown to masane she is the bearer of the witchblade. Six years ago tokyo was partialy destroyed by an earthquake but at th null point there was two surviours a young mother and her daughter. masane was Masane was that mother and Rihoko was her daughter.Back to present day tokyo the monster is about to attack but is attacked first buy the witchblades defence mechanisum. As with all heros in anime there is a price to pay. through the next 23 episodes Masane as the witchblade works with the Douji corporation to destroy the I weapons that are on the lose in tokyo. ITs not all doom and gloom as Masane is reunited with her daughter to live a normal life. Full of twists and turns along the way an anime worth watching if your a fan of the origonal witichblade do not worry this dos'nt interfear with the orignal story line but is set in the future.Full of action comedy and hot babes as you would expect from anime masters Gonzo who animated witch in patnership with top cow. Above is a breif description of the first episode I am not going to give away any more as this would spoil it for anybody wishing to buy this collection. IF like me you have been waiting for the collection to come out there is nothing worse than reading a review that gives away the ending of an anime series. If you like this type of anime and you are a true fan make you're own mind up wether to buy it or not. But even if you're not give it a chance you may be suprised.
