Katherine Ramsland began her career as a writer with Prism of the Night: A Biography of Anne Rice. She had a bestseller with The Vampire Companion. Since then, she has published 59 books and over 1,000 articles, reviews and short stories. From ghosts to vampires to serial killers, she has taken on a variety of dark subjects. She holds graduate degrees in forensic psychology, clinical psychology, criminal justice, and philosophy. Currently, she teaches forensic psychology and criminal justice at DeSales University. Her books include The Forensic Psychology of Criminal Minds, The Human Predator: A Historical Chronicle of Serial Murder and Forensic Investigation, Inside the Minds of Serial Killers, Inside the Minds of Sexual Predators, and Inside the Minds of Mass Murderers. Her background in forensic studies positioned her to assist former FBI profiler John Douglas on his book, The Cases that Haunt Us, and to co-write a book with former FBI profiler, Gregg McCrary, The Unknown Darkness, as well as The Real Life of a Forensic Scientist with Henry C. Lee and A Voice for the Dead with James Starrs. She speaks internationally about forensic psychology, forensic science, and serial murder, and has appeared on numerous documentaries, as well as such programs as The Today Show, 20/20, 48 Hours, NPR, Coast to Coast, Montel Williams, Larry King Live and E! True Hollywood. She spent 5 years assisting "BTK" Killer Dennis Rader write his autobiography, and has started a supernatural fiction series with The Ripper Letter.

Recommended for fans of Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches series. A comprehensive reference guide that the reader will find handy. There are also photos of various locations that are featured in the novels. The photos of the interior of the Mayfair house looked pretty much the way Rice described them. I've always wanted to be a Mayfair.

Then again, I've always wanted to join the Talamasca. If Ms Ramsland and Ms Rice could collaborate and write a comprehensive history of the Talamasca.....I would buy it.

(Save one evening's reading for the entire list of Mayfair family members.) What is most enjoyable is to compare what you personally know of such subjects, and to discover where your knowledge is "right on", or perhaps at variance (to be expected). No doubt, since other stories related to the Mayfairs have been published, each reader has put in annotations with book and page references of their own.

Definitely a helpful book to keep track of the Mayfair family! I've only had a flick through it as I'm waiting until I've finished the lives of the Mayfair witches (again!) but from what I can see it looks like a good read!
The book is absolutely beautiful, it has no cover and is bound in black, with gold writing on the side it looks great in my bookcase! Only downfall is that all the way through it sentences have been highlighted it yellow marker, gives it character I guess !
