And apart from being sweet and beautiful, it is also full of hope and forgiveness and new beginnings and all sorts of wonderful. This story is like a modern fairytale about two female protagonists Alandra and Luna, where both are strong, and both do the saving and neither one accepts being a damsel in distress. And their romance could not be more beautiful. For real. Super sweet.
Alandra is quite amazing, as she lives her life how she sees fit, not trying to conform to whatever unrealistic expectations other have of her. She is strong, determined, loving and wonderful. I will not say anything about Luna, because she is so special, you need to find out for yourself. Alandra’s sister Laney plays a big role and there is a hint that she might be getting her own book, which would be awesome, because she is a very interesting character.
The author also addresses the issue of not belonging and how it feels when one is all alone not having any support, not even from the closest loved ones. And I was very happy how that situation got resolved in the end, because Alandra might be forgiving but she is certainly not a doormat to be walked on.
There were some really intense moments in the book because there are some bad bad people here, who do not care about hurting others. There were also other kind of intense moments, and there were moments that made me cry. This book is just so beautiful overall and I loved it so much, and I love this author so much I can’t wait to see what comes next. Thank you Poppy Woods for this beautiful book.
My favourite character was Bug's familiar. Cute little guy, esp when he went at Alendra's dad even when we couldn't understand what he was going on about. I loved that little guy.
I am glad Alendra has an ability, otherwise, I would have been disappointed.
I enjoyed the characters and related to the main girl. Glad I purchased this book.
Character development and world building was up to Poppy’s stellar standards. The concept of living celestials is very well developed and unique here, it’s not a regurgitation of anyone else’s version. It’s well written and well edited also.
This book hasn’t changed my feelings toward FF books. The steamy scenes made me uncomfortable enough I contemplated giving this a 3 or 4 star rating. But, as stated above, they were very well written, and to take off stars for something I wasn’t a fan of, and knowingly went into, would have been unfair to the author. It wasn’t a deal-breaker and it was such a good story overall that I know I’ll read it again.
If you’re like me and prefer your FF to have an M or 3, don’t let the lack of M’s stop you. You’ll be missing out on a great story of love, overcoming serious negativity, redemption and ultimately

I thought the choice of a large moth as Alandra's familiar was inspired and nice touch
This was a romantic supernatural book that I couldn't stop reading, I highly recommend it
I would love to discover more about the history on the celestials and the war against them. To find out about each celestial, and what their purpose is - it seems like Laney is getting her own book and I really do friken hope so - her character was such a strong badass woman, so different to her sister and a breath of fresh air. And getting to meet Apollo is going to be epic.
Each character has personality, they feel real, they’re not perfect, they have their troubles and problems and so are very easy to relate to. I was very happy with the ending also, and glad that certain relationships were patched up in a short time as it would be hard to forgive a certain character on their actions - so that was done very well and believable. The romance was passionate, sweet and everything I hoped it would be. Luna and Alandra compliment each other very nicely. Issues about self-esteem and not thinking you’re good enough we’re done very well - and Luna certainly helped Alandra see her worth. So all in all a very promising, healthy relationship and a cast of flawed, believable but likeable characters, magic and mystery. Definitely a five star reading from me.
It’s quite rare for a book to take such a hold of me and have me obsessed, its got to be a very special book that hits all the right markers for me - it needs to have that spark of magic to rise above my high standards. And though this has its faults and grammar issues - they’re easily overlooked because of my love for it. I only wish it was a longer book, I need more of these characters, more of the small town, more about the history and more Alandra & Luna. There’s so many places this book world could go and I’m excited to see what comes next.
Also waiting on my paperback copy to add lovingly to my bookshelves, to reread again and again.
