Review:
A great high seas adventure and love story.
This story was so much more than I was expecting and in a good way. I had not read the other book in this series or this Author before, so honestly I expect something a little lighter in mood. I was pleasantly surprised, there was a lot of depth in the story and in the characters. When the book started out with the attack and everyone is killed, I was stunned. I felt so bad that Milly and the others were killed ( you will have to read the story to get what I mean) and I wanted to cry for them. Alice is pretty kick-a** though, she does not wait to be helped she tries to save herself, multiple times in this book, she is definitely no shrinking violet. I loved the will they? won't they? that goes on through part of the book between Alice and Gavin. Though, I wanted to smack Gavin out of his funk a few times...What did Cher say? "Snap out of it". Alice is the perfect match for Gavin and he finally figures that out. This book brought out a lot of emotions for me not just from Alice and Gavin but from the atrocities of killing innocents to the slave trade. I think the Author did a great job of putting the reader in the time period, everything was wrote in a way that I could picture the story happening. I would definitely pick up another book by this Author.
Lots of excitement and emotion in this story.
