Will and Alex's conversations consisted of "I love you so much" " I need you so much" " I can't breathe without you" etc. it was just way too sweet. It didn't feel real.
There was also so many characters it was hard to keep up with who was who. Overall too much drama, love declarations and too little real life.
This is the most boring book I've had the misfortune to try to read in a long time. Dude, if you repeat the same 10 phrases a million times you will have read this book.
The plot could be a good one but it is not. I really wanted to know what happened to Will and Alex, I liked them; but it is like having to read for punishment trying to get to the end of the book.
The book is too long, too slow and boring.
Alex(Gunner and Ellie's daughter) and Will (Josh and Heather's son) have grown up together, crushed on each other since they were ten, and fell in love as teens getting ready for college. But once their parents found out their lives are changed as decisions are taken out of their hands.
"I can't be without you, Will."
"I promise you, Lex, I'll love you forever."
Will and Alex make such a sweet couple and it was obvious to everyone that they were meant to be. They share a true love connection and chemistry. But they are young and vulnerable and have been isolated in the small town ranch life. The parents' goals were for them to experience new things, life outside of the ranch, and meet new people. They do meet some new people, some with positive results and some not so much. But they are growing and learning how to make their own mistakes and think for themselves. But the process also includes drama, angst, disappointments, and frustrating miscommuncation and misunderstandings.
"If our love is meant to be, then...it will be."
This story is told in Will and Alex's points of view and is predominantly their story of love, separation, and figuring out if their love is strong enough to survive distance and challenges. It is the sweet and often heartbreaking story of first love, changes, growing up, and strength of commitment.
But the other characters were a large part of the story as well. I will admit that at first I had a hard time keeping straight who belonged to who and how they were related, but I caught on quickly.Read more ›
“True love is a forever love. It is tested and tried all the time. It’s sometimes broken, but it always, always heals itself. It stands strong during storms, even when it feels like it is about to fall apart. Love’s roots grow stronger and deeper after the storm. That’s true love. There are ups, and there are downs. You just weather them.”
Let me tell you first how much I LOVE Kelly Elliot. I have read all her books and I love them. I think the reason I love them so much is because they remind me of my farm, small town, garden, and horses. You could say I’m a farmer’s daughter because I love the ranch just as much as my dad does. It gives me peace and quiet and I can connect with nature (that’s why I love to read outside in my garden). That is what reading Kelly Elliot’s books do to me (give me a connection to who I am).
So lets get started with the review of Without You, which is Alex and Will’s story. This is the next generation, which I think is amazing that Kelly Elliot continued with it. I really loved all the characters in the Wanted and The Journey of Love Series (Josh being my favorite, which was a tough choice because who can refuse Gunner, Jeff, Scott, Lark *sigh*, and sweet Garret). Will is Josh’s son and I didn’t think I could love anyone more that Josh but I think Will did (Josh raised him right). Alex is Gunner and Ellie’s daughter and she is just as sweet as Ellie. Their love started young at ten years old but it didn’t flourish until they were 17. Alex and Will try to hide their relationship but they get caught by Alex’s father. Out of all of the men I would think that Gunner would understand love more than anyone but he doesn’t where it concerns his little Alex.Read more ›
This is Will and Alex's story , Gunner & Ellie's daughter with Josh & Heather's son !! Total swoon worthy couple and I was just routing for them the whole time. As normal Kelly throws in some major drama and leaves you on the edge of your seat worrying about the actions of the characters. I am always finding myself yelling when I read her , NO DON'T DO IT , and OMG THIS IS NOT OK !! The lead in for the next book was great and you know what you get with a Kelly book !! She makes my heart smile and i love the lovey dovey romance. OMG these boys are so much like their daddies it is insane !! I also loved Gunner as a dad !! He may have made a few choices that really pushed Alex over the edge but thankfully in the end it all worked out. True reality of how being a parent is never easy and we even make mistakes too !!
The cat is out of the bag now....
Gunner walks up on Will and Alex in a heated situation and I just had to laugh at Will stuttering and sputtering scared stiff !! The kids are on their way to college and although Alex and Will could go together Gunner wants none of that. His plans for Alex may just ruin her relationship with Will and it was heartbreaking to think back to that age and know the heartache she was feeling. I loved having the POV's of both and being in both their heads. Will is such a sweetie and his love is genuine and all in.Read more ›
