Rose has taken family history shared by a member of the Le Van family and added his own large collection of Tombstone documents and photographs to make an interesting and informative read about the life of Billy Le Van especially his relatively short time in Tombstone.
There is a large section on the O.K. Corral gunfight even though that isn't the primary focus of the book. Another interesting bit of history is the founding of Whittier, California; a Quaker community where Billy and a partner tried to set up the first saloon to disastrous results.
My only problems with this book was the small size of the photographs since I love to study all the details of old photos, and in transcribing documents and then adding his own thoughts the author often gets in to a lot of repetition. The documents are usually produced also.
An informative book for anybody interested in the Old West and especially the early growth of Tombstone.
