In Witnessing Ted, the journey to potential through grief and loss, I found not only the inspiring story of Ted Wiard but also dynamic tools to honor and move through the grief process.
I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to move from a place of grief to a place of healing.

I have experienced depression a couple of times in my life, and its a tough, dark experience. I know Ted Wiard personally, and have also attended Golden Willow Retreat in Taos, NM. I can sincerely state ghat both he & the retreat have changed my life; the way I view other people, the world (especially natures splendor), and how I choose to live my daily life! This book is very supportive & basic, although dealing with an especially challenging part of our own existance & personal dynamics. Especially beneficial is that it would be a welcome book to continue to pass along to those "stuck" in a life without appreciation, self worth and sadness.

For months after my son died unexpectedly at the age of 40 of a heart attack well meaning friends gave me books to read. None of them resonated with me, they were words that I could not relate to. Then 4 year later a new acquaintance gave me Witnessing Ted. All I read was the back cover and I felt connected. It is the only book about dealing with the loss of my son that I finished. I hope it does the same for you.

As with the other reviewers, I could not put down the book. Which should say volumes for a book about grief and loss. The way the story of Ted's losses is paired with the guidance and wisdom for each of us to learn how to also deal with our own grief and losses. Carol also adds her own stories, as well as, the experience of learning from Ted, which helped me feel I was with them on this journey. Their courage helps to show the way for us all to find our courage. Their ability to have such hope and willingness to live life, can help us all to find ways to keep showing up, and being willing to risk in life and love. The teaming of Ted Wiard and Carol Poteat is a wonderful gift, which I hope for more to come.

Witnesssing Ted is a beautifully written heart felt story that will bring healing and hope while guiding you through the grieving process. Paragraph after paragraph with so much compassion and love, Ted shares his painful and personal journey giving you the tools to climb out of the darkness and into the light. His metaphor about the sailboat helped me to understand how we continue to take in water in the form of loss before our first breath. By the time we finish high school our boats sit with tattered sails, low in water, its hull is already full. We must learn to consciously grieve which releases water from the past. I have been blessed to meet Ted and spend a week at Golden Willow Retreat, a special place for healing and recovery. For anyone grieving a loss of any kind, feeling lost and broken, this book will change your life. A thousand and one blessings to Ted and everyone at GWR.

What a gift. I am overwhelmed with the power and transforming opportunities this book offers with such ease and simplicity. Although by blood Ted and I are cousins; I have always called him brother and we have always had a heart connection that has supported us through our individual life journeys. Until reading his message in the context of this book, I never allowed myself to honor my own losses. Compared to his mine never measured up and seemed insignificant. Thank you Ted and Carol for allowing me to see grieving and loss as a reality that can be honored and embraced in my everyday life. The acknowledgment that there is power, healing, and ultimately love that comes from honoring and processing my own losses without comparison to others has changed my life in an instant. Let another kind of healing begin! I love and believe in you Theo!!!

A beautiful and wisdom-filled book on grief and the key aspects grievers go through on their journey to acceptance and healing. Ted's painful and personal journey of many significant losses will touch, connect, and help the reader who feels they are alone, in the abyss, and wondering if they will ever climb out. This book brings enlightenment and hope.

We have all experienced loss and grief in our lives. Ted and Carol's journey in the telling of their experiences gives the reader permission and encouragement to join them in a transformative healing process. I just ordered several copies to give as gifts. Oprah Winfrey's Network featured Ted's Golden Willow Retreat in Shania Twain's Why Not series. Watching the Golden Willow episode gives a good feel for Ted's work.
