- Reviewed in the United States on July 7, 2024If you have any WizKids pre-primed models, you know the deal. First, I'll say, with this brand, I have never encountered a single figure that doesn't need mold lines removed and gaps filled, which kinda negates the pre-primed, "ready to paint" aspect of this line, unless you are NOT like me, worried for every little imperfection that will show through your paint job. Not a huge issue, honestly- I actually enjoy the process of prepping models for paint. I guess I just feel like they waste their time priming these before packaging for hobbyists of my sort.
Something the product description will not tell you is that many of the eye stalks need to be glued to the figure BUT you do have a few alternate options included for the many eye stalks on this creature- some of them even feature eye beam effects rendered in clear material (maybe resin, maybe acrylic). This is very neat for hobbyists like me, again, who enjoy the process of building and preparing their models before getting down to the painting.
This is a very nicely detailed figure, lots of texture to work with. Recommend!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2018I caught the miniature while it was on sale for $4.95
Luckily I purchased 2, because why not.
The miniature is large for a 2x2 sculpt. The detail work is excellent and all pieces came packaged and unharmed.
I learned the miniature used to cost $6, and you can find it online for 25+ dollars, which is too much. Although I wouldn't mind paying 20~ for this miniature, it was that great. The interchangeable eye stalks have clear plastic as the spell effects and they also look great on the beholder. You can choose to remove some eye stalks to create a "maimed beholder", which is a beholder who has seen combat with tough opponents and barely survived, it's damaged and missing eye stalks.
The base is wafer thin and the plastic that holds the beholder up is strong and thick clear plastic. The plastic the beholder is made of is durable and the stalks are as well.
This is not a $50+ miniature, please don't waste your money that way and instead search on Amazon for the pre-painted larger beholder that IS ACTUALLY worth $50+
- Reviewed in the United States on December 16, 2022I picked this up on sale for $10, and for the price it's easily the best mini I own. However I noticed the Eye Lens that people were complaining about making the eye foggy, but for me I instantly figured out that its actually meant to make your Beholder a Zombie Beholder! Notice how the 5E monster manual depicts the zombie version with a cloudy eye, thus the eye lens actually makes this a 2 in one mini. Not sure why they don't clearly label it as such, seems to be confusing people.
Overall awesome mini, can't wait to paint it!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 24, 2020A nice challenge, but provides a great final product. I was able to get a nice color scheme that has that classic Beholder look, while modernizing slightly. Getting into some of the areas inside the mouth is a challenge, but not so much that you want to tear your hair out. Very much worth the money.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 24, 2020I had been holding off on reviewing this mini till I had it painted.
That said I love this mini and I enjoyed painting it. I had a lot of fun expermenting with the blending on the eye stalks and all the fleshy pinks and purple's in the gums.
I think its a great starting mini for those getting into the hoby bc it's not to big but not super small.
Behilders are poster monster for DD 5e and they come in all shapes and colors so go nuts ppl. The only hard part was keeping the clear stand from getting paint on it.
Like all wizkids and deep cuts minis they say they are preprimed but I have found that paint comes off while handling them if you dont prime them yourself
(Sorry pics come in sideways)

- Reviewed in the United States on May 22, 2021I've been wanting to introduce a Beholder in my campaign for a while, so I went ahead and ordered this mini. I was blown away by the level of detail and how good it looks. I subtracted one star because the acyrilic piece that's supposed to cover the beholder's main eye was opaque and obscured the detail, but, you can go without it and you'll be just fine.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 1, 2021This is a very good sculpt with very little flash to trim. It's an overall forgiving paint as well and something I didn't realize. It comes with normal eye stalks and some shooting spells. 4 optional spell effect stalks or 4 normal ones. I went with all 4 special ones and ended up filing down the extras for a project to make a mini that is a tentacle eye. You could also paint both and not glue them in for added surprise on the table but for me I don't have that patience lol.The media could not be loaded.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 29, 2018This is a pretty good-looking beholder! I painted mine recently, and it held paint quite well. It was a pleasure to paint for the most part. My only complaint is regarding the detachable eye stalks. I think the concept of them is quite cool, being able to have regular eye stalks or switch them out for stalks with beams shooting out. But practically, when I was painting my beholder one of the stalks kept falling out. Ultimately, it's not a big enough deal to knock it down to a 4-star rating because I just really love the art of this piece. The detail is deep and on point, especially in the mouth area. Overall, a great product.

rather anonymousReviewed in Germany on April 29, 20215.0 out of 5 stars Super Modell!
Insgesamt super Modell!

Lots of ways to build this as you get extra eyestalks with spell effects. Great sculpt, detail is superb.
