This shovel-like tool makes cooking and scooping in a hot wok quick, easy, and efficient. The wooden tip prevents spatula from getting too hot to handle. The contour and sloping sides fit well into the curved wok. 16" length (the most common household size) can be used in a 12" or 14" wok and 18" length for 16" wok. Larger sizes also available.
Top customer reviews
The problem I had initially was that the bottom of the spatula had a sharp edge, and this edge would grab the wok. The spatula could NOT be used to move food around because it would simply stop by catching on the edge.
I fixed this problem using a wire wheel on a grinder. I was able to smooth down (slightly round) this sharp edge and now the spatula moves along smoothly in my 14 inch wok.
This spatula should last a very long time, and works well once the edge is taken off!
I also sanded the handle more smoothly and used mineral oil to finish it. Looks great and works well.
The only thing I did was to put it back again, and since the wood and the metal are HEAVY-DUTY stuff, I really but it back with energy and it's there since then.
Maybe if it happens with my grandma, she would return it and complain all day long about it.
Great Wood handle
Two complaints, which is why I'm giving this four rather than five stars:
1) I suspect that this was designed for professional use. 16" is, as it turns out, a bit too much spatula for my needs as a home cook. I find that my arm quickly tires when using it for a while, as compared to using the much shorter ladle that I previously used with my wok.
2) The bottom edge is a bit rough and scratches up the wok. Not big deep scratches, so nothing I'm too concerned about, but a bit more of a taper would have been appreciated.
