Yes, like Outlander it was long and a bit slow, but the more I read, the more I found I liked the Wolfe and Lady Jordan.
One of the reviews gave a detailed description of the things that were wrong or bad about the story, but I would say while you’re reading this book, look at it from a love story point of view.
There was a part of the story that I was sure would never happen in the real world, no matter what period it was, but I understood if the writer had not written it so, William and Jordan would have never gotten together, so I accepted it as being a part of a well-written story.
I know the writer has a duty to its readers to make the story as believable as possible, but as a reader, we also have to allow the writer to ad-lib sometimes. Stories like this are written for the romance aspect of it. We read them so that we can allow ourselves to dream of that one man that will come into our lives and save us from the everyday boredom. We read romance novels to escape and to dream and hope.
And I must say, with the Wolfe being written as a man that was strong and power to fall in love to the point that he lost all reason at times, the writer did a very good job at showing us even a strong man can be weak when it comes to love.
I would like to give this book a 4 1/2 rating. I would have given it a 5, but I felt when it came to Paris, his romance with Jordan's cousin was a little rushed. I liked him in the story as much as I liked William, so yes, I wanted a little more Paris time.
The characters are so well written, they come alive in this book....right in your head!!! William and Jordan...he is her "English" & she is his "Scot"...from the start are so electrically charged, and the charge only gets better and better! Many of the other characters....Paris, Kieran, adorable Deinwald, Michael, Jemma....they have their own wonderful stories woven in this book....what can I say....they all make me smile!! Beautiful, beautiful love story.
Treat yourself with this book....you'll come away a little different, a little happier 😊
Sir William de Wolfe of England is Captain of Lord de Longley's army. He is a massively built Warlord...fearless and powerful. He is notoriously known as "The Wolfe" because of his cool, vicious, cunning skill. He is admired for his unfathomable strength. He is completely organized and controlled and never given to impulsiveness. He's a powerfully skillful and extremely intelligent war strategist. He is highly respected and loved among the brotherhood unit of Knights and the people of Castle Northwood, and there is absolutely nothing they would not do for him. And as he lay dying on the battlefield after a bitter battle against the hated Scots, a beautiful angel comes to his rescue, dresses his wounds and departs... and little does she know, Lady Jordan Mary Joseph Scott saves the life of the hated and powerful English Knight known as The Wolfe.
I absolutely adore Kathryn Le Veque. In a word, her story telling is superb and this epic saga of Sir William de Wolfe and Lady Jordan Scott is no less fabulous. Ms. Le Veque painstakingly draws the reader into every sweet and intriguing plot and leads them, inch by wonderful slow inch, through each step and phase of progression. It is a fabulously delicious and wonderful journey. There's no rush and because of her talented capabilities....because of her expert devotion to her writing skill, the reader has no choice but to become invested and connected with the main characters and supporting characters...there is no other alternative than to fall into the emotional and dramatic excitement facing William de Wolfe and Lady Jordan Scott. The journey is absolutely exquisite and delightful. I loved the instantaneous, confusing, yet electric attraction between William and Jordan and how it grew into an inferno. I loved their devotion and commitment. And the humorous comic relief between these fabulous English Knights was simply icing on an already delicious cake...they were delightful and pulled the laughter out of me. Their many personalities and humorous dialogue was downright hilarious. The absolute bessst!! The Epilogue to this fabulous story drew a breathless and bittersweet sigh from me. It was...in a word..."perfect". Ms. Le Veque leaves no holes or loose threads. Her strength of vision to the ending is unparalleled. The only downside is...the story wasn't long enough!
