Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews
A new to me author and I enjoyed her writing style and this story. I’m not sure if its a stand alone read or beginning of a series. It does end completely, but the world created could go on to stand further stories and I’d enjoy reading them.
Poor Stacy, she’s shocked when she comes across a battle between werewolves and vampires. Well, who wouldn’t be, they belong in stories not out there on the street? She can’t deny what’s she’s seeing though, and that means she gets embroiled in a battle between two sides, one wanting to protect earth and save millions of lives, the other who are out for their own ends and don’t care who gets killed along the way.
Rafe is attracted to Stacy, and that shocks him. He’s been grieving his wife and child who were murdered, and hasn’t been interested in anyone since they were killed. Its not really the time either to be starting anything. He’s only here for a few days. never the less the attraction is strong on both sides and leads them to do things they wouldn’t usually, and brings out some very sensual but not over the top sex scenes. I like the others in the group too, and the connections between them. The renegades, they’d done some gruesome things in their quest for power. They’ve come back in time from the 23rd century too and are tampering with history, and that's why Rafe’s group needs to try to stop them. It brings them all into some real dangers, bloody battles, strange new and different supernatural groups.Stacey is hiding who she really is though, from past experience she knows that's best. She’s not the only one with secrets though, and when both come out there are some real shocks for everyone.Read more ›
A mix of time travel, werewolves and vampires....it sounds like a recipe for disaster, truly. However, this actually worked out into a relaxing, non-thinking book to read, one that I have needed desperately after the past few months. I don't know of many authors who can take this crazy meld of genres and actually make it work. The author has made it work superbly.
Rafe is a special ops werewolf who is grieving his wife and unborn child, and as any typical alpha male, he isn't out to just get over it, he's out for revenge. He's definitely not looking to fall in love. The author presents him in a way that helps the reader to want the revenge almost as badly as Rafe must, but also hope for a sweeter happy ending for him.
Stacy, a normal human with a very normal life up until she ends up in an alley with a dead body and fighting off some very strange looking creepy men. And of course, it must just be her imagination when she sees a man disappear and a wolf reappear, right? Stacy ends up being a very strong, but very believable heroine. In the end, you can't help but experience her emotions along side her.
Overall, this is a surprisingly good read, and though the author left it off at a happy ending, it could also be a beginning of a series. I truly hope the author continues this.
Rafe is the ultimate hero torn from past losses and not looking to connect or even enjoy someone outside his race and time. Stacy is in the wrong place at wrong time. She comes through like few others would. She has learned to hold who she is close to her chest. As the werewolves and vampires search for her, she hides within their midst and out wits them on many occasions.
I wouldn't suggest this novel as your first paranormal story. Yet, if you like a mixed genre story, this is one of the best I have read. Steamy at times, strong story, believable characters, great camaraderie and fabulous plot twist.
