Graphics : honestly they are not the best I've ever seen but they are very pleasing to the eyes. It's not what I would call the next gen graphics that you really want to see on your shiny new Xbox One , but they are better than the 360 and ps3 , so at least we are getting better graphics than what we would have gotten on our last Gen machines :) but all we need is a little patience and time and the next gen graphics we want will be here soon enough.
Story : the story is interesting enough that it keeps me in my seat and wanting to play more and more . I literally had to make myself put the controller down and get some much needed stuff done around the house , all the while thinking about my new wolfenstine game and wanting nothing more than to just sit back down and play a bit more , but alas we must be responsible and do what is needed . So my Wolfenstine thirst will not be quenched until later tonight when the wife and kids are tucked in the bed asleep , haha then it's game on baby !!!!
game play : its what you would expect from most FPS games , the controls are smooth and precise , the button layout is the same as Call Of Duty except you cannot go prone. The major difference in this game and most of the others is we get to play in an alternate reality ( during WW2 ) where the Nazis have won and we are the repressed that are fighting for our freedom. On top of that we of course get our supernatural and far advanced enemies to deal with but this is par for the course and it wouldn't be Wolfenstine without it. To me this breaks up the monotony of the every day shooter we get time and again. Call Of Duty and battlefield are great and I will play them all but they are still just all about the same. Wolfenstine gives us something fresh and new and in my opinion its something that was sorely needed.
if you are thinking of getting this game , just do it if you can , it's fresh , exciting and certainly very entertaining. I don't regret my purchase one bit and I'm certain you will feel the same.. Cheers and happy gaming :)
Solid 5 out of 5
Edit : the farther I get into the game the better it looks , also I have seen the 360 version on my neighbors console and I have to say there is a noticeable difference in graphics between the 360 and the Xbox One . The X1 version is far more superior to the 360 version. The X1 version is really , really ,really crisp ,clear and detailed. I'm not down playing the 360 version if that is all you can get at the moment because it looks good as well , but the X1 version is the one to have if you can get it..
Well, I was wrong, almost about everything. I love it, Yes, the graphics could be better but other than that I really enjoy the story line, the action, the satisfying kills, the guns, the way they have structured the game and even the look. The graphics are not AMAZING but unless you are a graphics snob (and before you say anything, my PC gaming rig uses a new i7 OC and a GTX 780 OC - and yet I still bought an Xbox One because I realize that quality game play and game design always trump graphics and I find certain types of games better on the console) you will find them more than satisfying. If anybody is reading this and played RTCW then you might want to try this out, I bet you will like it. Also if you are looking for a great single FPS game, then try this out. Just do it.
For me it took a while to get used to the controls but once I got those down things started clicking and I am having a blast playing this. If you like a delightfully violent FPS with a story line that makes killing Nazis even more satisfying then get this game.
I don't usually have high hopes for a Bethesda published game, especially from a smaller developer I don't know well, but this game turned out to be extremely fun and very engrossing. I purchased it here on Amazon for $30, honestly it's worth much more than that and I really would have paid full price if I had known it would be so good.
Visually the game looks beautiful; excellent styling in a post (and pro) Nazi controlled world (referencing the art style), it's crisp clean, and fantastic.
Game play is nicely paced with lots of breaks in the action to give way to story sections. Gun play is tight, fun, and gritty
What's really great is the story - yes, the story. It tells the surprising tale of an injured soldier waking up in a mental hospital to find the world (1960's) controlled by a far superior Nazi regime. Lots of great characters really add to the sense that this is a real place, it's a lot of fun, it's a tad dark, and you will enjoy wasting Nazi's once again.
UPDATE: After beating the game, I can say with confidence this is one game I will play again. Extremely emotional game, really creative and smooth. You go, Bethesda. Keep doing what you are doing.
