Going in to this read, I wasn't sure what to expect. Was it going to be a typical shifter book? Humans hiding their secret otherworldly identities? A human falling in love with a shifter? Or was this going to be different? Let me tell you, it was different!! I really enjoyed it! It was a love story, a story of rivalry, a battle of both body and heart, a show of brotherhood and compassion, of right and wrong. There are lighthearted parts, and heartbreaking parts; parts that made me smile, and parts that made me tear up.
One pack, Wolfhaven, embraces both their human side and their wolf side. The other rejects their human side. Wolfhaven claims a mate out of love while the other claims a mate for power. All of it comes to a head when Thay, the heir to be chief of Wolfhaven finds love with Lena, the daughter of their rival pack. She has been promised to Kellan, and in doing so, Kellan will become Alpha - something he won't easily give up. But Thay won't give her up either. What happens when the war for Lena's heart rips both packs apart? When it breaks Lena in more ways than one?
When Lena comes to Wolfhaven for help, will they set aside the rivalry for the good of their pack or turn her away?
I don't want to give too much of the story away, but there are a few unexpected twists, one of which made me audibly gasp. Can't wait to see what's next!!
I was converted to this genre a little while ago, so when I seen that Wolfhaven was a shifter book I just has to read it and I wasn't disappointed at all - I was hooked after the first chapter.
Wolfhaven and Silver Ridge, two wolf shifter packs separated by a feud. Wolfhaven, is a pack that encourages their human side to be seen and allows all within the pack to choose their own mate. While Silver Ridge prefer to remain as wolves and are told who they will mate with. Two different packs with two equally different ways of living. Equinox is about to change the two packs forever.
When Thayer, next in line to be chief at Wolfhaven, finds a female wolf that he loves and wants to mate with all should be simple, unless the female is Lena, the heiress of Silver Ridge and is already promised to another - Kellan, next in line to be alpha at Silver Ridge but only if he mates with Lena. Thayer goes to Silver Ridge to fight for the right to claim Lena as his own. Will he return victorious?
Will Connell, a young carefree wolf who just wants to have fun and patrol the borders of Wolfhaven be able to help his brother, someone he has looked upto since he was just a pup. What will he and the pack at wolfhaven decide when Lena is brought to their side, struggling? Will they help her or push her away back to Silver Ridge where she belongs? Or will the revelation they are about to discover change things forever?
Wolfhaven is truly an amazing read, with some twists that you don't see coming - it will have you feeling all sorts of emotions. I can't recommend this story enough. I can't wait for more.
For three generations an uneasy truce has existed between the shapshifter packs of Wolfhaven and Silver Ridge. But Equinox is fast approaching and everything is about to change.
Connell, grandson of Wolfhaven's chief wants nothing more then adventure; and to explore the world beyond the boundaries of where he has grown up. Is this a plan set for failure? Only Lupa, Godess of wolves, can know; for it is she who bends destiny to her will.
Thayer, heir apparent who is also Connell's older brother has found love with Lena who is Mistress of the Moon and daughter of Silver Ridge's Alpha. Lena is actually matched to another. A wolf of her father's choosing who will become Alpha after mating with Lena.
Kellen is Ardens second and will make the perfect mate. If only Lena wished it. There will be a fight and some will die, but who? Will Lena resolve to put the traditions of her pack above all or will she go for love and say to hell with the pack?
I have never read a book like this before and I really enjoyed it. Jay Shaw knows how to write a paranormal book with twists and turns I certainly didn't see coming and the only word that comes to mind is wow you have to read this book. It took me less then 2 days to read it as I couldn't keep away from it. The ending blew me away and I look forward to reading more of Ms. Shaw's books in the future.
