The concept was nothing new for me, however the story wasn’t horrible. I mean obviously there was something there that kept me interested enough to finish the story, it just wasn’t new, you know?
The writing wasn’t horrible, the story wasn’t horrible but I did have some issues both good and bad with it.
Autumn was a very flawed character almost to the point of I wasn’t sure if I liked her. She was hanging out with the popular crowd and dating the popular guy while they all treated her “real best friend” horribly. And that supposed best friend put up with and still was friends with Autumn…hmmm. Other than that she was a fine character, pretty confident, and pretty strong. She was a nice person I just didn’t understand her choice in friends with she knew they weren’t nice.
Zack is a little judgmental punk-face who is a bit rude but somehow still the nice guy to help Autumn out whenever she needed a “hero.” Just the nice guy who is helping out the “mean” girl and then yells at her all the time. Yeah didn’t care for Zack for a while. I get what the author was trying to do but I didn’t care for it OR I have just read this type of character too many times.
The whole were wolf thing was fun, again nothing new but still enjoyable. It was fun to follow that story line and the secrets the character hold. Then the twists of the story with the characters. It was fun to explore Autumn and her newfound powers, it was fun seeing Zach get involved and his secrets.
Overall it was still enjoyable regardless of the issues I had with it and if you’re in the mood for a fun were story you might find this one up your alley.
Sexual Content: moderate
Autumn walks out of the room and promptly bumps into a strange, extremely hot guy, only to have her boyfriend Daniel arrive on the scene, act like an arrogant jackass, telling him to keep his hands off his girlfriend, and leaving the new guy, Zack, with the opinion that Autumn is equally as obnoxious.
Autumn is appalled but let's Daniel lead her away so as not to make anymore of a scene. When she spots Zack at lunch, he looks at her with utter contempt. He appears to hate her, but yet always seems to be around when she needs someone, like when her car breaks down.
This is totally my type of book. Zack is a wonderful character, who seems to constantly be the knight in shining armour even though its completely against his nature. He continues to help and look out for Autumn, even knowing it could get both of them killed. Autumn and Zack's relationship begins as one of mutual dislike, but when they get pushed together when his cousin starts dating Autumn's friend, things gradually begin to change between them. Zack knows what's coming for Autumn and he wants to be there to help her through it.
When Daniel goes from annoying ex-boyfriend to complete psycho, Zack is the only other person who knows the truth about him and can protect Autumn from him.
This book won't be for everyone. There are the cliches that I know some people don't like. These don't bother me or impact in any way on my enjoyment of the book. In fact, they may actually make me enjoy it more. This is actually quite a sweet little romance, and I think anyone who likes that will enjoy it.
So, while this book wasn't perfect, I'm not going to nit pick. I really enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to the sequel.
Once I read the book’s description I immediately wanted to read it! I love books that have paranormal romance and just romance in general. Why? Because the imagination and creativity that goes into these types of books is incredible; truly fascinating. Yes, there are millions of shapeshifter/paranormal books in the world that have werewolves, vampires, etc., yet no two books are the same.
As you begin reading, it’s just like any other high school romance story that involves a girl, her crazy boyfriend (soon to be ex) and a hot new guy. Yet, as you continue to read you start to notice it’s not what you first thought.
So it all starts when Zack de Luca saves Autumn Rossi from tripping and humiliating herself in front of everyone at school. Not so bad, right? Well it so happens Autumn’s boyfriend, Daniel, witnesses the whole situation and decides to put the new guy in his place. Autumn’s too shocked to do anything, until it’s too late. Zack already has an impression of her, and it isn’t a good one. Apparently, Zack isn’t interested in having Autumn in his welcoming committee.
Autumn gets the impression Zack hates her and she couldn’t be more right. Yet, every time Autumn finds herself in trouble, he’s always there, helping her out. She starts the notice things about her that aren’t normal and guess who’s there helping her through it all? Nope, not Daniel. It’s Zack. Apparently, they may have something in common. Yet, it’s something that’ll never work in their favor, something that’ll keep them apart. Well, more like Zack apart from Autumn.
While I loved Autumn’s character, I couldn’t help but cringe every time she kept throwing herself at Zack; facing his endless rejections. I have more pride than that. I understand that she was slowly starting to fall for him and that Zack was only keeping his distance to keep them both safe, mostly for her sake. I also get that it’s love and people would do anything for love, even if that meant pushing the one you love away. But, I wouldn’t gladly accept them with open arms, I’d make them work for it. (Just saying!)
Overall, the book was a good read. I give it a 4/5 and with the way the book ended I’m glad there’s a sequel. I would of honestly pulled my hair out if there wasn’t. I need to know what the future has in store for both Zack and Autumn. I’m totally rooting for them! *smiley face*
